Anyone ever installed this set?

What all is involved?  Im getting a tach rebuild kit and wanting to get my clock working to, I guess I need these. How tuff is it to install? I know to remove the dash yadda yadda, after it's out.  Do I intall like a stripe kit with water n soap?

They were easy to install. Just like stickers really. On the tach speedo and clock you have to remove the needles.

The needle removal wasn't that hard. The set of decals I ordered came with instructions on how to remove the needles and reinstall them. As I recall (I did this 2 years ago) the speedo was the only tricky needle to remove and reinstall, but basically I think you grab the gauge shaft with needle nose pliers and then just pull off the needle.

That's how I do it. I remove the needles by holding the mechanism inside the gauge (gauges out, of course) and twisting/lifting the needle, fingernails under the center. Reverse the process for re-install. (Twist/push) Just pull with fingernails for the clock second hand.

Some tach or speedo needles can be tough. Handle with care. I put the white faced decals on mine a few years back. Still look great!

Do the needles have a guide line to install them back in a certain place?  Like a notch?  that's actually what I'm wondering about, is getting the needles back on in the same place.

I just did my dash and dint take the needle off it was not that hard  to do.I have a spare set the only thin missing in it is the tack decal for 7000rpm i have the one for 8000rpm.

Nope, no notch or sweet spot. I just line them up with the "0". They are a very thin tube which fits onto a pin. Once seated, you'll still be able to twist into place. When you have one off, it will be pretty clear.

Let me re-phrase.  How do you know that the needle is really pointing at the right number?  A slight turn of the speedo needle and all the sudden you're doing 10-15 mph more than the gauge says.  Funny until you get busted doing 40 in a 25.

The tach kits usually come with instructions for calibration, but this obviously doesn't help with speedo certification. I don't know of a way to get it done on the bench.

I think the better known gauge rebuilders can offer this service. They might have ads here or maybe Wade can do a site search for us...... there must have been several threads on this topic.

If you're asking "How do I keep my needle from twisting past its correct point at high speed?"  I don't know other than seating it firmly and doing a bounce test.
