After driving the Cuda last spring/ summer, I felt it was time to make the Challenger the one I always wanted.
It started by finding (on CL) the original go wing, in good shape but needing a good scraping and paint. At that point I figured it was time for the front disc swap (which is described in another thread) After installing the wing, I just couldnt stand the butt without the dual exhaust. After a rough bidding war, I landed a used but straight original 70 dual exhaust valence. After winning the valence, I needed a set of tips to go with it and wouldn't you know it, a used set came up, and a couple days after the valence showed up, they were here.
Once the ball started rolling it became clear that if the Ratty R/T was going to happen I was gonna need to get the R/T hood to go with the exhaust. Once again it's back to CL to find the hood that I had seen months before and wouldn't ya know it, there it was, complete with inserts, 340 emblems and front trim, all for less than a repro! Once installed, the petty blue just wasn't right, so ten cans of .97 home depot spray paint later, it's flat black with gloss black blackout.
After installing the aftermarket swaybar (also scored from CL) I "custom" bent the tail pipes on my Ram bumper
and fitted the tips in the holes and are now ready for tacking.
Once I bleed the brakes, drill the rear sway bar link bracket holes, service the tranny and give it some new plugs and wires, pick up a set of trim rings tomorrow (CL once again!) I think it will be, for lack of a better word "done"
God willing, spring/ summer of '11 the Challenger will recieve the bodywork and paint it deserves.
Again, God willing, the Cuda's date with destiny is spring/ summer of '12
Spring/ summer of '10 the E's will be driven daily if possible while painting/ finishing the 69 Charger
I will post pics of the Ratty R/T when finished and as soon as it stops raining (hard to take pics in a crowded garage)
