Can you give me the scoop on NetFlix online?  Do you need a internet/computer right next to tv?  How do you get from comp to TV?

Confused

Katfish, if you don't want to have a DVD sent to your house, some are available online to watch on the computer. I think you need an account either way.....

My wife and I have a regular netflix subscription which ships the dvds right to the house, but if you have a decent internet connection, you can also watch the videos that they have digitized on demand and luckily, Gracie was available as a "instant view" so I just watched it right on my computer. I hope that helps. They are slowly adding movies for instant play that they can get the rights to. The selection for instant stuff is still small but they are building it up. The original Vanishing Point is available as a Play now or have it sent to your door. The remake can only be sent in physical dvd form.

Ok, I figured you could watch on the comp, but I'd like to get it to the big screen.  Don't want to wait for mailing DVDs back & forth.

I'm not sure what type of tv you have, but if it is a new flat screen type, many have a s-video link which newer computers can output or can even be used as a monitor off of a computer system that's a laptop or pc type setup. As I mentioned before though, netflix' instant view library is still very small compared to their dvd selection so it probablt wouldn't be worthwhile yet.

Katfish - what version of Windows are you running? There are several ways to get it to your TV depneding on what you got

Currently I have Windows 7 (this works with Vista also) - permium or better comes with Media Center - in that case you just need a media extender. An X-Box 360 will work nicely. Or you can go a little cheap and get a Linkssy DM2100 media extender (this is what i do - the Linksys box).

There are also DVD players out there with NetFlix streaming ability. Hardest part will be getting your network connection to the device. I do mine via wireless

If your not computer litterate this may sound a little daunting - but trust me, it is actually very simple. Don't let the techie talk scare you away

My son has a X-box, and I have a projector with multiple inputs.  What do I need to do?

Thx

Does your projector have a monitor or S-Video input?

Yes, it has 3 different inputs

s-video
monitor (I use this for HD from my cable box)
VCR type video jack (not sure what it's called)
