engine number decode

i have my 383 and finally tore it apart. on the bottom rear where just behind the oil pan there is a number...can anyone decode it?

PT IS THE PLANT CODE  TRENTON AND THEN 383 ENGINE,,THE LAST NUMBERS MAY BE PART OF THE VIN NUMBER,,CHECK TO SEE IF THEY MATCH,,BUT I AM UNSURE OF THIS

engine is not out of my car, just wondering if we can see what it came from.

PT - Engine assembly plant

383 - 383 CID

P - Premium fuel recommended

2307 - 10,000 day calendar date for the final engine assembly - Nov. 21, 1967 (1968 model year)

6698 - This seams high, but if the number is correct, 6698th engine assembled at this plant on the date above.

Check the top of the bell where it joins the transmission for a VIN.
