I'd pull the trigger for that car at that price.  Right now prices are repressed so you will find good deals like that.  In five years I'm sure the price will be higher.

I'm not trying to be negative but look at the completed listings on ebay.  I don't believe prices are repressed right now but were artificially high before.  I don't see them going up anytime soon based the abundance of reproduction parts and the people that spent lots of money on restorations based on the old prices.  I if you want a clean 318 challenger for 10-12K they are out there.  Just look.  If you want me to find them for you I will but I want a commission.

Are you talking about completed listings that actually sold, because I just checked and there are none below $19K, except for a race car that would cost $20K to put back on the street.  I agree that prices were artificially high the past few years, but you're not going to find a done 71 for 10-12K unless it's one of those dumb-luck deals that comes up every once in a while.  If you say they are out there post them up and I'm sure you'll find someone on here to pay you a commission for a deal like that.

That appears to be alot more car then 10-12k would buy in my opinion.  Purchase price seems fair.  Enjoy it!

This is not a done 71 but a survivor 70 318 Challenger.  I'm not saying it's not a nice car.  The completed listings on e-bay show many cars that have bids but did not meet the reserves.  This is because most think their car is worth more than what most people want to pay.  Cars will be sold in the price range I listed by people who want to sell their cars to get what they can out of them because they need the money or whatever the reason.  People who think their survivor 70 318 Challengers are worth 20K will probably be stuck with them for a long while unless that right person (see above) comes along.  I know you all want your cars to be worth a lot but they are only worth what someone will pay.

I'm going to say this is not a survivor car as it has the bumble bee stripe bulge hood, T/A exhaust and R/T badging, and is definitely worth the purchase price. Both of my cudas that I sold (70 and 71 440 6 pack clones) I listed on ebay and sold them after the ebay auctions to people who saw them on ebay. Most of the time when it comes to cars on ebay they don't get bid up to what they will actually end up selling for (reserve auctions only of course) as the people who list them (like myself) use ebay as a marketing tool.

:iagree: It's funny you say that because that is almost exact word for word what I just told my father-in-law earlier this afternoon with regards to Ebay being more for marketing purposes.  He likes to use it to see what a car might be worth, but I have to tell him to look at the completed auctions and see what has actually sold.  Like I said above, it's not many.

The last few cars' I sold I merely used ebay for an advertising tool.  I would imagine not a lot of cars are actually sold through them.

$18k is prolly more than I would have paid, but not by much.  Who am I to talk, I just paid $28k for a '71 340 'cuda replica.  :dunno:

Even in this market, I believe $18K was a good deal.  It's a very nice looking car.  Pricess will creep back up somewhat but probably never as high as they were a few years ago.

Beautiful Car!!

Thanks!  I was able to get it all cleaned up, polished, and waxed today.  Here's a quick pic of it in the garage.

I think you did very well.  Looks like a great car.  You couldn't put 1 together for 2x the price you paid.

Enjoy it!

I agree, I think you did well.  There are always people who can get the super deals and I'm not one of them.  I'd be very happy with your car if I'd had the opportunity to pick it up for a price like that.  Especially knowing how much it has cost me since 1994 to get good parts for my car.  Good deal in my book.
