Goodbye car, hello winter!
« on: December 03, 2009 - 12:09:05 AM »
Well its December 1st and I have the car out . . . and I live in Michigan!!   :bananasmi  I took the convertible over to the gas station and filled the tank with premium, added the sta-bil and then tucked the car away after pulling the battery and fogging the engine.  Look forward to next year when the car comes back out and the yearly car shows begin.  Hopefully I will have the black car running then also.   :grinyes:

Suppose to snow tomorrow!   :screwy:

Hope you don't see any blizzards for a while at least.

I remember riding in it with you in Carlisle.
Fun times as we did the queen wave by the crowds. lol.

Awesome car Dave!   :grinyes:

I am getting ready to start prepping the Beast for the winter, although not as deep storage as you. I try and drive it at least once every two weeks during the winter just to get it up to operating temp and keep the fluids circulating.
They are talking about possible snow showers down here in the Atl...      :screwy:

No the hardtop has not been running for quite a few years.  I'm hoping that it gets done this winter so I can have my baby ready for spring.  It has been to long and I'm definitely going through withdraws.

I had to scrap the block that I was using as #6 cylinder had a sleeve in it and was leaking anti-freeze into the combustion chamber.  Not a good combo.  I have a new block now and am trying to put it together.  I think this will be the fifth time I have put the engine in the car . . . and hopefully the last for a while.   :pullinghair:

Coincidentally I drove my '09 for the last time until spring on December 1 too.  We must have had the same weather here on the other side of Lake Michigan as you did.  It was sunny and in the 50's.  It's going to be a long wait until the weather improves!
I drove the convertible for the last time shortly before Thanksgiving.  It was too cold to put the top down, and the heater doesn't work, so I don't miss driving it during the cold weather months.
Here it is 2 days later, and it is 30° with snow flurries in the air, so I guess I got the cars hibernated just in time.
But on those occasional nice sunny warmer winter days it is going to be rough not being able to drive the new Challenger!  I suspended my insurance except for comprehensive for winter, so I may have to hide the keys away somewhere to avoid temptation and get myself in trouble!

I was sad and then glad I got it done and put away.  So far I have winterized the Ski boat, 2 jet skis, pontoon boat including the special winter cover, the sprinkler system, the inground pool and finally the convertible.  Since the car was already in a garage, it was the last to get done.  Now I am starting on my indoor projects which mostly is the basement I am finishing.   :naughty:

Cool pictures of your convertible. I didn't know you had one (or must have forgot), have you owned this one as well for a long time?

I liked that vert!!

It when you spray fogging oil into the engine while its running to coat the walls.
I had my Charger out today, yesterday, the day before, and probably tomorrow. I would take it out in the snow thats supposed to happen Saturday but I wont be home.
