trans fluid

been a long time since i bought trans fluid. Which fluid is recommended for aq new rebuilt 727? I can only seem to find synthetic.

I'am no tranny man,but I used B+M trick shift in my Charger's rebuilt 727.Also have been told walmart "type-F" for stock.

ran wal mart type f in my 3500 stall + tf2 904. Nothing fancy on mods, but i've yet to have any issues. I've heard the trick shift is just type f

type F is for Ford, hence the "f" not Chrysler

Type f used to be recomended for hp mopar transmissions in the 80's as I recall.  This was in drag racing applications and such.

I agree, it was supposed to be not as slippery and gave firrmer shifts.

the issue here is to put it in ONLY & not mix with Dextron so if the trans is new you can use type exclusively

The factory recomends Dextron , I would use Dextron.

I raced Stock / SuperStock for years and only used that.

Never had any problems with the 727 or 904......

Type F is a bit stickier. Ran it in my big block 727 for years in my power wagon, huge amount of torque applied to the drivetrain. busted a lot of axles but never had a bit of problems with the trans.

So if you just bought a car how do you tell what's in it? Mine leaked around the dipstick tube and when I pulled the motor the rest of it ended up on the garage floor So what type do I put back in then?

You can use Dexron,Type F,ATF+3,ATF+4,synthetic .......................

Mixing them is OK? I don't know what was in it?

I have never heard of any problems from mixing them.
