How can you tell if one is fake or not? Might be something good to know in the future

Ask Barry on a case-by-case basis.  It's simply too risky to publish the right and wrong tag info.  It'd become the perfect reference material for scammers and those who re-badge.

Aside from the unusual amount of desirable options on this car (shaker, rear wing, billboards), nothing too obvious.

Although I never seen that interior code, but can't be sure?  Premium black vinyl buckets?

Actually P6X9 is a legitimate code - if you have a '71 Gran Coupe.  ;)

Ask Barry on a case-by-case basis.

I do not even talk about what all I know in private, I have no idea what people's motives are.

I have educated a few folks in law enforcement if there is a legal case for fraud involved.

Most folks that desperately want to know what I know have fake tags, want to make fake tags or have been caught with fake tags. Screw 'em.

To clarify PRX9, it was Gran Coupe only for 1971.

It was also available in 1970 & was not Gran Coupe specific.

Hi All-
I understand the ethics side, but is it illegal to sell fender tags?
I was cruising eBay yesterady and a site has a handful for sale.

http://motors.shop.ebay.com/eBay-Motors-/6000/i.html?_nkw=duster+fender+tag&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_rdc=1

Thanks,
Ron

Only two states tha have laws against selling fender tags so far, MI & OK.

Other than that, they can be bought & sold as collectibles.

Selling VIN tags on the other hand is illegal in all states.

Hey barry, i was considering buying a car a little while back and i was wondering if reproduction dash tags can be bought anywhere or if that is illegal. The car had a dash swap years ago, i think they wanted to convert it to rallye guages and just switched the whole dash. The fender tag, door tag, firewall, and cowl all match but the dash was different.

Oh, that makes sense.  If someone doesn't want leather and would get the credit.  So I guess by inference, 'Cudas should NOT see P6X9.
