70-74 Cuda/Barracuda !Wanted!
« on: December 12, 2009 - 06:15:48 PM »
Hey guys, I'd like to pick up a rust free 70-74 cuda .   I'm probably leaning more towards the 71's.

I really only have just a few requirements, that it is rust free, nothing hiding like tons of bondo or poor body work, and it has decent paint.  Photos of the body before paint is a big bonus.  If the price is right and paint isn't done yet, I suppose that's ok.  Original paint in good shape is awesome too.  No engine is also fine, preferred actually.

My ideal candidate is a 71 Cuda 6.1 hemi with a TKO 5 speed conversion.  I'd also really like the modern suspensions that are out there (XV).

Looking pretty seriously, but I also am not going to pay $45,000 for a car without paint and missing parts.

Thanks
Darren

Darren,
Our 1971 Barracuda (Pink Ice) is up for sale.  Look in the For Sale section. It started out as a Barracuda but now has a new crate 426 Hemi.  It has been painted Panther Pink with Black Billboards and Black Interior.  This car is turn key.  It is beautiful.  Pink Panther saw the car in person at one of the Mopar Shows so he can verify how nice this car is.  Everything on the car is either new or refurbished.  We are asking $52,000 or best offer.  Call us at 918-695-2592 or email us at kuda6pack@aol.com for detailed information and lots of pictures. We have pictures before and as it was beeing restored by my husband. Thanks

I have, thanks.  There is a limit to what I want to spend....I just don't know until that car comes along.  I'd like to keep it in the 30's.

Still looking folks.

Had made a strong offer of $33,000 on a 71 project (yes, project), and was dealing with a stubborn seller.  His price was $35,000 so I offered to send an inspector.    He sold that car a week later (on his own admission) for LESS. $5000 LESS.    :clueless:  And this was after 6 months (!) of him hounding me for more money.

My guess was he was worried about the inspector?

Very strange, but there are always more cars, right?

I see well goodluck

I'm not sure if you've seen this 71 Cuda project car or not, but this guy has had it for sale off and on for the past couple years. It seems like it has everything you want in a restomod cuda and more -- a lot of high-dollar parts: Tremec 5-speed, 4-link rear suspension, tubular k-member, rimblow steering wheel, etc, etc.

This guy has been trying to sell his car the whole time I was building mine. I contacted him a couple summers ago to see if he would sell of parts. He's wanted to sell the project complete -- which I understand. He claims to have $60K into the car as it sits, and I can certainly believe that as I built a car very similar. He won't give the car away, but I'm sure he'll make someone a great deal on it. I wish his car had been up for sale before I purchased mine. I could've purchased his and saved money in the end. It's a bit beyond the price range you noted, but it may be an option worth exploring.

Hi David,
Yep I've seen that car.  In fact, that's my seller I describe above.  That's exactly what I wanted.  I was dealing without the magnum force parts (just not sure of the quality, as I'm sure we've all read), but he sold it WITH the MF stuff, for basically our deal ($5k savings).  I was pretty bummed.  Not the end of the world.

But, thanks very much for posting .  Good to see someone caring to share!

Limecar,
I do not know if this car is still available but you might try calling a guy named Steve. He is out of Alma, Arkansas and he had a 1971 340 Cuda on Ebay about a week ago.  The car did not bring his reserve so he might still have it.  The car was raced at one time but you could probably restore it back to original. He says in the Ebay ad that it is an original Sassy Grass Green with White Billboards, Black Interior and Black Vinyl Top. It is a 4 speed car. He has the original VIN and fender tag for the car also. That would be a killer color combination when done. You can call him at his shop. His shop number is 479-632-0011 or his cell is 404-317-2476. I have never dealt with him before. I saw the ad on Ebay and thought that would make someone a great project car. The Ebay ad # is 380282321757. I hope you can still see the ad. You can email me at kuda6pack@aol.com and I will forward the ad to you if it does not work for you.  Good luck on your hunt for a project car.
Pink Ice

Update: The ad for this Cuda is on the free Classified ads from Ebay. It shows the price of $19,000 and it looks like the Ebay ad # now is 380285636734.

While I don't really care to sell my car, everyone has their price and I do have some bills that would be nice to pay off (don't need the money, but it'd be nice)

Mine is a 72 that just got out of the body shop. It is about 85% complete (meaning I have about 85% of the parts including 2 motors) The only things I have painted on it right now, is the trunk interior, interior, and engine bay (went with house of kolor lapis blue bc5). There is no transmission right now, but I priced out a TKO 600 conversion kit (used to be an auto) from keisler and the cost is about $5k. The 2 motors are an old 74 440 ci, and a modern 5.7 hemi (I would rebuild both, but neither are seized and both run.......5.7 hemi does have a spun rod bearing though). I have had the XV inner fender braces, XV sub frame connectors, and XV radiator brace already installed.

I'd be willing to part with it for about $17,500. I would've gone for a lot less before, but I've put quite a bit of money into repairs and parts since I first got it.

Here's the link I have on here to the current restomod it is going through.

Hi again Pink, Thanks for the link.

Those mini tubs bother me a little, only because it's more money to remove (I'm not a fan).  It's got me thinking though....  I appreciate the post.

I am leaving towards the 71's now more than ever.

Hi Aris, that's a good looking 72.  It looks very familiar.....have a look at my 73 that I sold in May 2009:

Anyway, I sold it because of the cost to do the body.  The fenders were fiberglass, and I wanted to do the entire rear end (quarters/trunk floor/wheel wells/trunk extensions).  It was decent, but I am picky I suppose.

I'll give yours some thought.
