Remember me?
« on: December 15, 2009 - 07:24:37 PM »
Hey folks!

I haven't been on the board for MONTHS.  It's been a pretty hectic year since July.

For those who were wondering, my wife and I packed up the place in Harrisburg and moved an hour south to Hagerstown, MD.  I took a job with a contractor in Baltimore, and am working for the US Department of Justice Antitrust Division.  I'm doing project scheduling and control - same type of work I was doing out in Ohio.  I have an office in dead-center, Washington D.C.

We moved to Hagerstown because just before my offer came along, my wife was offered a major promotion with her current employer.  She took it, and continues to drive to Harrisburg every day for work.  It's taking a toll on us a bit - 1:15 hours for her, and often over 2 hours for me just to commute ONE-WAY to work.

But things are still going okay.  It's been a struggle - Maryland inspection laws are awfully tight - it's taken over $2,000 to register our daily drivers.  The Viper is not currently legal for MD roads (but I'm working on it...)  We're getting ready for the Holidays.  We decided not to bother with gifts again - we bough a 42" LCD for upstairs, and a 65" DLP for the new game room.

We've got a nice house in Hagerstown - a rental, for now.  We have a 3-acre lot with a two-story house and 2-car garage.  MEK helped us move in back in late September (and special thanks again to him for doing so.)

No new 'Cuda yet, but I gotta admit, I miss the hell outta that car.  I'm still hoping in the next year or two to get one.  And I'm still only about an hour from Carlisle - so y'all can call me 60-minutes now if you'd like.

I gotta run - bedtime comes really early these days.  But I wanted to stop out and say hey.  I also need to find a part, so I gotta go post there right now!

Hope all is well with everyone.  I look forward to reading your replies.  :)

Glad to see you back. I was wondering if you were doing ok just the other day. Sounds like you have very long days dedicated to work. I hope you find some time to relax. I know you love your viper. I hope you get it legal for your state and enjoy it more after winter. Lord knows your working hard enough to deserve the fun.

Good to see you chime in

Jeff,

God bless you. I couldn't do that kind of commute to DC everyday. I guess you have seen some interesting characters on the metro.   :22yikes:

:2thumbs: Unbeliveable, I was thinking about you on Monday, wondering why you had not been on here. Glad things are working out with the jobs, and watch out for the dummies on the roads.

That's good to hear everything seems to be going well for you and your wife, Jeff.  That commute must be a killer on both of you, but it sounds like both jobs are worth the extra effort.

Lol - okay, I made sure to stop back in BEFORE another 4 months went by!

Stroker, that picture made me laugh my A$$ off - really made my day after it took me THREE HOURS just to get home today.  On that topic, by the way, FINISH YOUR DAMN SHOPPING!!!!  Jezus these people trying to get to the malls with two days until Christmas.  This country has truly lost it's mind.

Anyways, the Viper has a persistent check-engine light because the O2's don't get hot enough quick enough due to the fact that they've been moved more than 2 feet further down the exhaust than originally designed.  So the PCM throws a code within a few seconds of engine start.  To have it fixed I either need to A) reinstall the factory exhaust or B) send the PCM to Dan Cragin performance in CA and they'll reprogram it to remove that OBDII monitor (and while they're at it, retune the PCM for the couple of go-fast mods that are installed.)  So when I get the PCM back the check-engine light will be fixed AND I'll have some more horsepower.

Yeah the commute blows, and no the job really isn't worth it.  If anything, the property I come home to KINDA is - I'll have to get pictures up when there isn't a foot of snow on everything.  At least the Viper is INDOORS!!!!!

Thanks for the posts everyone, and I'll see you at Carlisle.  :)
