I lived in Hawaii from May of 1980 till May of 97 & used to go look at this car once in awhile just to see if it was still there. Clarence had a drug problem & because of it the car just sat & rotted. A LOT of racers in Hawaii tried over & over to get Clarence to sell them the car but he would never let it go. I wonder what it took to finally get him to turn it loose? I know it looks a LOT worse now than the last time I looked at it in Hawaii! Don't be surprised if it takes almost all of a doner car to fix it correctly! Ray.

I dont think we should talk about the previous owners personal life here. He cant defend himself.   by the way..welcome NEWBIE   Also, with all the new parts being made first hand, It probably wouldn't need a donor car, and with the cars history, it will be a keeper in someones collection for many years to come

I've been hanging out observing for quite awhile but this is the first car for sale here I found I had experience with to post about. If you re-read what I wrote you will see that I wrote he HAD a drug problem. I have no idea if he still does or not, that was over 15 years ago. If that bothered anyone I'm sorry you are so easily offended by something that has nothing to do with you! I have a brother with a drug problem & he's not here to defend himself either! I was just posting up some info about a car I knew some of the history on. I guess I'll just go back to observing from now on & not post anything else. Ray.

"Wages Of Sin", one of the BEST albums ever made haha. Burning Angel & Enemy Within are flawless. I did not think there were any Heavy/Death metal guys on the forum. Slap me for assuming. Hey Ray, thanks for posting up. It is awesome to hear from someone who actually spent some time around this Challenger.

Thanks,
Shawn

Shawn, I don't know how Willie Kahoa got the car away from Clarence but how did you get it from Willie? I know he got the car from Clarence 6 or 7 years ago now. Willie used to sponsor our Super Comp dragster when he owned a Napa store. Just curious. I still have friends there that know the car & it's history. One GOOD friend in particular, Walt Vernon, was there the day Dick Landy went 10.23 with the car at Hawaii Raceway Park & watched him drive it out the gate afterwards! I can give you Walt's # if you want a first hand account. I grew up in K.C. & graduated from Ruskin High School, where are you in KC? Any chance you know Rob Hall? He has some cars I could tell you about! Ray.

I actually went to Ervin and grew up off 103rd maybe three blocks from Ruskin. Small world. I do know Rob as we have done business with him over the years. He does have some pretty awesome pieces. I also know that Willie owns the first car and this is actually the second car built which Clarence had sold to Darryl. In fact, I believe he sold both cars to Darryl then Darryl sold the other one to Willie. So you've actually seen Landy drive both cars?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know where the Dick Landy Super Stock Dart was sold through? Was it a private sale or auction? Also, has anyone heard of any recent Super Stock Cudas selling? Also, what are you guys thinking in terms of value with our Landy Challenger. I'd love to get any feedback I can. Any information would be more than appreciated.

Thanks,
Shawn
