Where are they at???
« on: December 18, 2009 - 06:59:57 PM »
Hi everyone
Was watching Pinks All Out yesterday. I have watched several episodes, and seem to notice that mopars are very underrepresented. And when they do show them, they either break or lose. :faint: Yesterday there was a duster that broke something half track, and a challenger that lost traction at the very beginning. There was a duster that got pretty far into the finals, but also lost. So is it just me or has anyone else noticed this???

Actually I think most of them are at the show and shine.

In my area, the percentage of show mopars to race is probably 50:1. Most the show cars don't race.

Why are the underrepresented? MOPARs just cost more than the bowties and blue ovals to build and there are so few around compared to the others. If I was to start racing today and wanted to be competitive on the cheap the last car I would build would be a Mopar. It would most likely be a 89 fox body Mustake.

I was gonna say the same thing, Chevys are incredibly cheap compared to Mopar. You can build them for a lot less money. Besides that, it seems that Chevy is just more popular then Mopar when it comes to drag racing. Same with Ford. That's just the way it is. Mopars are still the best. Think about it though, how many AMC's do you see? There isn't many left, and the people who do own them usually don't risk them by racing them.

There was a Pinks a while back where a Red Challenger made it to the semi finals; I don't remember why it lost.

5-10 years ago I would have agreed but since Mopars have become "cool" some of them have also become cheaper to biuld.I bought my `70 Duster drag car less engine and trans but with an 8 3/4,spool,4.56 gears,SS springs,8 pt cage and more for $1000 and had it at the track for less than $2500 total.I still need to biuld an engine but a stroker kit is cheap and good heads are available.I think a `72 Petty Blue duster also won a pinks event. We will always be a minority compared to the Camaros and Mustangs but that is a good thing.
