Gas Cap Question
« on: December 19, 2009 - 10:46:06 AM »
Picked up a spare standard chrome cap for my 70 LA built car recently. For some reason the ears on the base are to large to fit the tube along with the depth appears different . (Possibly it is from a later year). Does anyone know of a replacement base? Thanks!

There are 2 different caps/necks , depends if it has California emissions or not.

Yes, it has the Ca emmission package. I am hoping to find a cheap base for it and the original as the gasket is split.

I know the folks with '71s have a heck of a time finding the 1-year only cap. Maybe it's one of those.

I had a tough time with getting the right cap for my car too. Look here.

Since it does not fit my 70, anyone that may need the base is welcome. (left)

What did you end up using brads70?

I went to my local jobber and he had one sitting on the shelf with about an 1/8" of dust on it. It had been sitting there for years! That was my lucky day! I went with the flip top gas cap though.
