70 'cuda No fender tag or broadcast sheet HELP!!!
« on: December 21, 2009 - 04:49:01 PM »
I've recently purchased a 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda.  Its a roller with 1 seat, no carpet or trim.  I am wanting to restore it but have a few Questions.
1. No fender tag or Broadcast sheet, how do I find the options? It was a 340 4speed car that was B5 Blue. Thats all I got so far.

2. The Dash seems original with VIN tag that matches the cowling stamp and radiator stamp, but when I removed the inch of dust off the Speedo, the ODO reads 267 miles.  Could this be accurate?

Any Help would be appreciated.

O the vin is BS23H0B139319

You're out of luck, really no way to tell without those 2 pieces.  Odometer probably turned over, it returns to 00000 after 100k.

Have you checked the one seat & behind the glove box insert for broadcast sheets yet?

Take many pics before you start like dash harness gauge or lights
check for road lamp switch marks and hole, and look for an extra firewall hole for a shaker .
Look for holes along roof for top trim also look for brake line detail for disc brakes .
Look for radio plate if still on car maybe an 8 track .
If original primer is intact on qtrs then paint stripper can be used to remove paint and that will leave a chemical reaction on the bare steel with an outline of any factory stripes this also includes race decals and paint stripes .
The wiper option is easy also found in the harness and wiper transmission.
Wheels look at the door decals and rear gear if oem this will help narrow the options .
Holes tell all about a car ,its much harder to fake a car than it is to fake docs .
Pics and more pics and a few witnesses and a knowledgable restoration shop helps.
Good luck .GB

Its got the Drum brakes up front and rear.
Has the 3 speed wiper.
Whhere would the hole in the firewall be for a shaker?
Does anyone have pics of the dash where the roadlamp switch would be?
I'll take some pics and try and load them soon.

a 3-spd wiper would seem to indicate a rallye dash car (A62).

Thats good cuz it has the rallye dash in it.  Looks like the interior might have been black then
There is no primer left on the outside of the car. No stripes.
Has Manual Brakes (Drum on all 4)
Has Power steering gear
Clutch pedal so must have been 4 speed
No radio, just a hole on the right side of dash.
Thanks for the help so far. Any more info would be greatly appreciated!

I just wish chrysler would have kept some kind of record..... :banghead:

I agree it would have been nice for Chrysler to have kept better records.  No one can really say what really came on the cars or not from the factory or from the dealerships.  I know I have checked myself. :stirpot:
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

I thought Chrysler did have records, but they were unfortunately destroyed in a fire.

 I'd say you found a project car that can become a "make me what you want" without getting harrassed by anyone. Build it into the car of your dreams, in order to build specifically you need to start with specific information.   :2thumbs:

:iagree: Don't beat yourself up over what it might have or might not have come with.  You might try running the VIN through the DMV and try to contact previous owners, but beyond that I would just build it to my desires.
