I have been leaning towards not trusting anyone when it comes to survivors and restorations done in different levels.  Knowing what you are looking at, understanding date codes, doing your homework, and full visual checks are needed in any buy nowadays.  You just dont know what goes on in todays greedy market

Looking at the pics makes me think its legit. All the small cues like the paint along the fender edges, stuff like that is old. If someone cloned that car they did it a long time ago and did a great job. But just like Alan stated, proof is in the numbers. Sure looks sweet though.

I did not notice anything suspicious with it, but more photos are always good.

The owner said he found a build sheet in the car that wasn't for the car. That's a red flag to me.  :grinyes:

Why?

It is extremely common, broadcast sheets ended up in the wrong cars at the factory all the time.

I've never seen one that didn't have one under the back seat if it was really an original unmolested car.  :dunno:

Dang.

My T/A was molested then.   :eek7:

My Coronet was 1/2 molested by mice.  :eek4:

I guess I molested Larry's T/A myself.  :naughty:

You guys are funny. On one hand you swear a Mope ain't really legit without the fender tag and broadcast sheet, and then you give a pass to a car with a price over 100K that was supposedly stored for over 20 years that doesn't have one. :clueless:
Maybe the back seat was changed, but then it's not really "original" anymore, is it?  :poopoke: :smilielol:

Legitimate to me means "legal".

It can also refer to honesty, ie, sellers claims.

Original broadcast sheets are a desirable extra.

Other examples;

A car may have a state issued replacement VIN, it is less desirable from an investment perspective, but not illegitimate.

A car with a missing fender tag would be more legitimate than one with a fake fender tag.

A lot of cars did not leave the factory with any broadcast sheets at all, it does not make them illegitimate or molested.

I would never drop over 100K for a car without the original fender tag AND build sheet, but that's just me.
