Do 70 models have coolant overflow bottles?
« on: December 25, 2009 - 06:19:55 PM »
Ive got a 70 Barracuda that used to be a 318, now a 340 with non-original radiator and no coolant overflow bottle.  It tends to leave puddles of antifreeze on the garage floor.  Did the 70 models come with a coolant overflow bottle?  Year one sells a bottle but says its for 73-74 models (but will fit 70-71).  I don't doubt it will fit, and will probably use it anyway, but just wondering what's "correct" for a 70 model 340 Cuda.  Thanks.

Coolant bottles allow that extra amount of coolant in the system, if you don't use one the radiator will find its own level slightly down so if you keep topping up radiator it will expel the extra leaving a puddle.

NIKKI was like an old harley... always marking her spot I added a small tank on some fabbed brackets .. works perfect!

:2cents: If you ever want to take your car to a track you will need a bottle.

If your car always leaves a coolant spot check your radiator cap - if its ok, it shouldn't release the coolant until a 15+ lb pressure is built in the system (boiling radiator). I had the same problem due to a always open cap ;)

Are they being repro'd?  Otherwise, I'm guessing expensive...
