E-body hood hinge rivets
« on: December 27, 2009 - 02:17:44 AM »
Who sells the rivets to rebuild your own hood hinges? I wanted to give it a try on my 73 Challenger project but the person selling them on ebay has not had a listing for them since November 25 and I don't have a e-mail address to get a hod of him. This is a picture of what the rivets look like.

the holes where the rivets go are most likely oval too. I`d drill slightly bigger holes, make sure they are perfectly round ( I dont know the english name for the tool  :clueless:  )    Then take them and the old rivets to a lathe shop and have them made.  I made mine out of 4140 chome-moly.  very tough but still able to rivet.
The rivetting is the tricky part btw...

Good chance those are oversize but might be wrong. I too am interested in doing this, never was able to get my hood to close correctly. Not sure if its wear in the hinges or bent/bowed hood

From what I have read here, most of the time when the back of the hood is up, the hood is not adjusted properly.  I would be great if some could post a video on how to properly adjust the hood hinge.

Just send your hinges out to Resto Rick for a rebuild.
