brake pedal goes to the floor??

New master cylinder or one that has been bone dry needs to be "bench bled"...
Is this the situation and did you do it?

Filled and bled my brake lines today. Once I fired up the car my brake pedal went right to the floor?? Dosconnect my vacum from the booster and it obviously didn't, but still no brakes?? What could be the problem?

I don't understand that statement.   Do you mean that when you press the brake pedal it goes to the floor?, and returns.        Or does it literally go to the floor on it's own?

When I said to bench it I did mean while on the car (sorry). I'm thinking between al the commentary here you should have everything you need to geter' done.

I have seen bad brake boosters do that before. A diaphram colasps or something

and it does work perfectly, mind you i didnt care that it wasnt factory, i just wanted to stop.

You can get a re-manufactured unit from just about any parts place for about $100 but the finish will be rough gray....OR you can send it to http://boosterdeweyexchange.com/ & get a correct finish along with a rebuild for a few more dalla

so when you unplug your vacume with the car running does the pedal come back up? and are you pulling vacume from the normal spot on the intake?

Yes when I unplug it the pedal comes back up. I am pulling the vacuum from the spout on the back of the intake.

I would try bleeding it again and make sure it has plenty of pressure pushing out the air and fluid out the bleeders,,if that doesn't solve it you may have a bad booster ,,if your not getting pressure out the bleeders when you bleed that may be the new master cylinder,,but if has plenty of pressure when bleeding it must be the booster,,but i have never seen one with the symptoms you describe,,so it is strange but someone did state here they have run into a booster doing what you describe ,, i know it sucks to change the booster with the seats installed and everything else in the way,,hope you get it solved

  One other possibility is if there is no free travel at the brake pedal or between the booster and the master cylinder. Did you check the clearance on the new master cylinder before installing?
