Summit brand carbs
« on: December 28, 2009 - 01:33:41 PM »
Does anyone have any experience with summit brand carbs?  If so what are your views on them.  Also, are they modeled after another brand carb (such as Holley)?

Also, would a 650cfm carb be too small or an 800 cfm be overkill on a 400 hp 383?

Thanks in advance

I have seen a lot of Summit carbs on car at shows. I have never asked the owners about them, but they always crank up and drive away.

As far as the cfm question, if you have a choice between 650 and 800 on a 400 hp 383, go with the 800....     :2cents:

I think it would take a 750 and up cfm to get the 383 to 400 hp

Definitely an 800 cfm. But I would be scared of a summit brand carb.  What happens if you need parts, especially on a weekend or out of town or something. You'd be stuck. My opinion is to stick with name brand on fuel and ignition components. :2cents:
