Older folks opinions and statements.
« on: December 30, 2009 - 08:20:31 PM »
Few of my grandpa´s (88yo wwII vet) opinions about my actions and some about this modern world we are living.

I bought 1986 bmw m5.
"Too loud and sucks gas, sell it!"

I bought bmw 750 next, shud be quiet now.
"Too heavy and too big engine, sucks much gas, sell it!"

I bought my Challenger
"??! Body rotten and engine dead, no good." - Thats the basic opinion from him if car has one spot of rust or perfectly running
engine just doesnt sound right for him  ;D

About computer technology:
"All doctors have dang computers today to play with, and there they read that I have had a stroke, and I cant have my
 drivers licence anymore  >:( "

About internet:
"They will shut internet off soon, it´s evil place, childs watch porn there!! :villagers: "

Grandpa makes me smile every time when we speak  :2thumbs:

It is always good to get an opinion from the older generation, that is the way wisdom can be passed on.
Back in the '60's & '70's I always tried to chat with the older generation when time permitted, obviously time moves on and some old opinions need to change or be modified.

Also MOPARS will always rule even with the passing of time.   :burnout:   :2thumbs:

:2thumbs: Your grandpa's age has gave him many experiences which usually also brings logical wisdom. Hard to question logical wisdom.

That´s true, and that´s why he can say his opinion without being mean.

When I lost my woman, he said simply:"She did not love you."

Its good to have straight forward people near you.

Sounds like a pretty smart fellow...   :grinyes:   Sounds like the kind of person that doesn't tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear.  Those folks are invaluable.....     :2thumbs:

Moparpena, if you haven't yet, please record or film your grandfather. He has a perspective to be valued - and cherished - long after he's not around anymore :2thumbs: I was the last child and spent precious little time seeking my parent's advice on anything - my last grandparent passed when i was eleven give or take. As alzheimer's claimed my Dad's mind he came into my room once to say "I want you to know I love you", then turned around and walked out. I thought to myself, 'I know that' and didn't give it much thought afterwards. He passed within the year, but it wasn't until decades later when Dementia/Alzheimers would be publicized by the media that I understood what an effort that must have taken.

My Dad was a factory worker so far as I ever knew; Pressman Feeder his last job title and his only advice to me was "Don't work in a factory". Roger that Dad :2thumbs:

When I was growing up my favorite line was "I can't!"   My dad's (now 82 years young) response was "Can't never did anything."  That has stuck with me my whole life and got me throw a lot of tight spots.

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

That´s good advice, I may take my camera with me for next visit. Old man is still sharp as a razor blade.

We all have to keep in mind that 1 year may change alot when person is over 80 yo.

Few days ago me and my brother were assembling new washing machine for grandpa. When the work was done, we were ready for test run. Grandpa said: "No, boys. I dont have enought laundry jet and we sure are not going to run that machine empty. It takes water and power!!"
