Wish me luck......
« on: December 31, 2009 - 09:37:57 AM »
Well after many weekends packed with holiday stuff, it looks like I might be able to tackle those pesky header gaskets on the Beast this weekend.  Wish me luck that I can get it done in 3 days,    :working:    :roflsmiley:   AND that it fixes the noise.....    :burnout:    :2thumbs:

good luck Ken, but it would have to be a major header leak before I'd pull that hemi out of your beast, that is a lot of work,.................remember, paint scratches are not permitted.  :roflsmiley:  :2thumbs:

If you are really concerned about the noise, I have a 318 I will trade for your Hemi.  ;)

Well, I struggled through the process of switching out the header gaskets.   :working:  I had to install the ones for the Indy heads.  The exchange was a success, but the noise remains. I can hear the sound when driving the car, but not at idle. It is engine related, not drivetrain, because it changes with rpm. The funny thing is that I can not hear anything at all when idling -- even using a engine stethoscope. All I hear is a rotational whirring sound. I guess I will drive it until something breaks and then I will know what it was.....    :roflsmiley:

Someone suggested converter bolts previously ... kinda makes sense to me & would be easy enough to check.
