In 1983 my brother in law bought a first owner 71 'Cuda. The FE5 red, the white billboards, the painted grill and gilled fenders all did me in. He already had a very fast 68 GTX and not long after bought a 70 Challenger. I bought my first E-body in 1987, a limelight, 340 hockeysticked car and I was hooked for sure.

I saw a T/A in a magazine at age 14 & just had to have one. It took five years.

Two reasons: When I was a kid the guy dating my neighbor couldn't leave her driveway with outdoing a burnout in a 73 Cuda.
And there was a very well developed girl  :naughty:who used to drive  70 Plum Crazy  R/T Challenger in high school.

When I was 5 my parents got divorced and my Mom's new husband had a 71 Challenger 318 , 3 speed manual, yellow. He bought it new along with a Chrysler bow rider boat. I remember many drive inns, camping trips, and road trips in the back seat of that car! Good memories! I really loved that car. As the years went by he traded it in on a Cherokee.
I remember sitting around with the boys in high-school dreaming about our favourite cars , when asked if you could have any car I said a 1970 Dodge Challenger. They all laughed at me. They all said Porsche, Ferrari etc.. I got the last laugh though I got my dream car! When I was 19 I bought my first car a 73 Challenger. My Dad said he hated that car (for obvious reasons) and why would I buy that piece of sh*t! But he always seemed to "need to borrow" it and I could hear the tires spinning as he drove away in it. :grinno:

Fast forward to  3 years ago my Mom died and left me a bit of money. After paying off the house, buying the wife/family  a Suburban and a new travel trailer I used the rest to buy my current 1970 Challenger! :woo:Sort of Mom's last gift to me. And it was a dream come true! I like to think it made my Mom smile....Thanks Mom love ya!

My mom has had the same 74 Barracuda since I was 5.

My dad bought a 74 Challenger to build after he rebuilt my mothers car but couldnt fund it so he sold it to me.

Then I got laid off and offered a huge severance package, just in time for a guy to roll my 71 out of a garage after a 20 year hybernation!!  :eek2:

You can guess the rest. I blew $7k to build my baby, what else is a 20 year old kid gonna do. Invest!?!  :roflsmiley: I sold the 74 for a loss.  ::)

Since I started work in mid '60's I became a MOPAR fan, started out restoring a 1926 1/2 Dodge 4, own many MOPAR's from 1970 on.
Saw the movie Bullitt & then Vanishing Point, both great cars.   :burnout:
The E body did something extra for me and now I have my '70 Challenger.
