I don't have any pictures, but it is about 1/2 inch thick and has brass sleves in each of the four holes.

Where is your carb leaking from?  Do you have a vacuum leak or gas leak?

its a gas leak. the leak only became present after seperating the carb and the manifold which leads me to believe its the mounting gasket.

Base gasket is not a liquid seal.... Possible that the float is stuck open. What all was done to the carb while it was off?

A piece of crud could of been loosed when you disconnected & made it's way to the needle valve keeping it open, with any luck you may tap on the carb & get it to pass or blowing compressed air though the fuel line might work.   Worse case get a rebuild kit & give it a good cleaning.

I agree, it is more than likley not the gasket.  Dry the carb, disconect the coil and have some one turn it over while you look for where tha leak is coming from.

Good place to start. Did you use any thread sealer? I've started putting Teflon tape on everything.

i used the gas resistant (yellow) teflon tape. the leak is coming mainly from the back. its a pretty bad leak not a drip.
