I had a body guy helpin me, said about the same, just a real hard thing to do workin in the back yard mostly by yourself, even the panel painting was recomended against, but there's no way I could prep a whole car & get it painted up all at once. took all day just for the rear of the shell(exterior) interior was done & sealed off, same for the eng bay.
So far the panel painting hasn't bitten me, the chips, I expect more, specially when I do the header & the valences, guess it's too late now, but I'm takin notes, texas cuda will get a different approach!
The learning process is tough on us sometimes, but the deeper the cut the more careful you'll be next time!
& believe me I've blead some on this baby!

Rusty you are an inspiration to us all to have the guts to learn how to do all of that on your own and to do it at all. im gonna try to do as much as i can on mine but some i dont even want to try, like hanging the rear quarters, because i still want it to turn out like a really nice car when its done.

AMEN to that! Still can't wait to see the final outcome of this, it's great that Rusty shared all of this as it will help many of us doing similar things. What's the other project Rusty? You mentioned the other Texas Cuda. Maybe I just missed it but if you wouldn't mind putting some pics?

K, I'll post up the Texas 'Cuda story later today, I think I got lucky on that one, paid less(even with shipping) then the local 73. Needs a lot of work, but much dryer then the current barracuda .
It's the pic in the second post on this thread, also the one I asked to have chopped onto a dragstrip(phantom weelie pic) 8)  Rich.

So I spent the last couple of hours wire wheelin the steering box & a shock mount, got a replacement for my broken one on it's way from an ebayer!
I'm starting to think i may need more than two years to get her back together, anybody got a time line map, showing where everything goes & in what order! :dontknow: Rich.

Rusty, don't get discouraged I had some rearranging to do recently. Thought I was done then I had to make some more space. Went to the Homey Dumbpot and got some brackets that you can suspend from the ceiling. Predrilled, then screwed some I-hooks into the ceiling rafters. Then you can use the space over the car and clamp the stuff on to the hooks and easily take them down. Works great for big, but light stuff like grilles. ;)

Keep up the great work you are doing, try not to stare at the "mess" on the shelf.Take a step at a time(car back on wheels, next brakes and brakelines back on place and further on)set up small step goals down the road .That`s how I`ve done, eventhough I`ve been working on my car for ages and ages comparing to you, this project is really moving fast forward

well I'm still putting off anything I really should be doing, did move the hood out a few weeks ago & cut a small hole where the bubbles were to see whats up in there, seems I missed the underside of the skin when I flooded it with por15, tap on the hood & loose rust makes its way to the hole, had a few other bubbles along that ridge, all above the little dings(but only a few not all the dings)  so this and the trunk lid are the major problems I have to overcome before I can start trying to line up the body panels! weather turned so it's still like this!

Still playing with the steering unit, nice mindless work to fill the time & not tax my meager assets!
Was joking with the guys that I wanted to clear coat it, well in my mindless state I took out the grinder, the wire wheels & the sanding rolls, got it so clean...............

that paint would almost be a shame, so I took a small area up a few grits with the sanding rolls, wow, I'm gonna waste even more hours on this, I really wanted to do something i stripped in clear, this may be it! Rich.

my quest for a simple set of shock mounts has turned me into the largest buyer of scrap metal on ebay, first set were wrong, second set are the right ones"In good shape" yea right, the friggen bolts (or the side of the plate) are bent! >:(
one on the left is one of the first set, almost clean one is my good one, on the left are the "good shape" set. of course the one I need is bent the worst!  ::) Rich.
