Well, paint before snow may not happen this year, redoing the quarters AGAIN, too many defects, took down most of what I did in the last three weeks(was gettin to much material on there) & started again, had a bit a trouble with the body lines, a friend(Charger man, doing a 69 440 charger, but not a puter guy) came over & helped out, from here i hope wet sandin will do the rest!  ???  Rich.

Wow, RC.  That's looking awesome!!!  It seems like those quarter panels always end up slowing up the painting process.  I'm still working with mine and they'll stay like that until I'm done with my first year here at college. ::)

Rusty,

Great looking project.  I agree, get the bodywork 101%.  I see you're working under a tent / portable garage etc.  How's that working out?  Will you enclose it over the winter and still be able to work ?  I have one and thought it wouldn't work out, maybe I need a re-think.

Thanks guys, lets see now, the rotis is a friends(doing a 69 charger) it's great, can't imagine me doing the bottom of the car on jackstands, it took forever on the rotis!
Body work, On this car I'm just tryin for really nice, it's not even worth what I put in already, but it is worth the school it's puttin me through ! If I can get it down to a five footer I'll be happy!
The tent works for me,painting has been great, keeps mosta the crap out but great air flow so the fumes clear fairly quick, it is pretty dark on a cloudy days though!  I will not close it up, the shell will sit where i leave off till next spring, I can bring in panels to the garage(it's my sheet metal shop,I do a/c work) & work on those till it goes  under 40 (I have some heat ,but not enough for extreme cold!)
I have Boxes & boxes of stuff to either try & save or chuck & replace, little buy little I've been pickin up parts, still need quite a bit, so plenty to do over the winter!
last year was mild worked till mid January, so only got a month or 2 break & then back at it! Rich.

I've never used a rotisserie before. From end to end, how long is it apprx? I'm definitely hot on that deal when I saw your cuda all hung up. It looks like it would end up being longer than the inside of a regular garage.

As I looked at that rotisserie I thouht that someone who had a welder could make one pretty easy with two engine stands and then fab up the bracket for each end. You could weld a square tube on one stand and another on the other just large enough to fit the other into, put holes for adjusting the length, would probably have to extend the height on the original engine stands but that would be pretty cheap and easy. The stands would have to go to about 3' 6" to clear the body from the floor or the lower frame of the stand. A lot of engine stands are already made out of square tubing that you could modify to accept the connecting piece and could still be used as an engine stand when not being used ont he rotisserie. It would have to be center of balance so one person could rotate it to the desired position. Okay, so if it is so easy, why don't I build one? I will on my next project.  ;D

Adds a couple a feet to the car, think it was 18'6 on the cuda, there is a connector from front to rear on the bottom to hold it together, it's adjustable, on the charger I would think over 20 ft(cuda's bout16')  ?
center of gravity is a little off on this one, takes all I got(well that aint too much anymore) to get it vertical!  ;D Rich.

Hey 6 pak! I love that engine stand engineering idea. Pondered it a little myself right after I last posted here. Maybe we should just get some cheap stands and start building them. Start a new business?

 ;D Sounds good to me!
"The new RONCO engine stand, car rotiserie, barbacue, torture device! It rotates, it cooks, can be used as a hammock once your car is done! Lay in it and drink beer and relax while watching the efforts of your labor! You can even torture your friends if they get obnoxious and won't leave after the party, simply pick them up off the floor and place a rope around their hands and feet and hang them on the rotisserie and twist away! For an additional charge, you can get the extensions and hook several together and do a bus or a train car!! When you are having a big party you can russle some cattle and put the whole cow on the rotisserie and have a giant barbeque!!! Get it now before they're all gone!"  :P

maybe should have been in the joke section? hehe

Most a the spots were on the roof or in the channels around the trunk, body lines are close, & I can't find any major waves, so I guess at least I moved foward a bit, but now I can take a really needed break from the sanding, maybe putz with the 74 a while, then start on the little stuff in the shop!
Looks good from 10' away! ;)
