Hey plum, this ones for you, with a special thanks!
Didn't get to the backing plates, those should be easy, but you will appreciate this, you remember what they looked like, this is after 2 days, yep 2 days in the tumbler! Not too shabby! Rich.

Yup, they do look a little different!! Can't wait to see how that hood comes out.

it's a craftsman , 7 1/2 ,33 gal tank, used it for 3 years(got it used & cheap) no problem, plastic fan went bad last year, sears rebuilt the whole thing(new pistons/rods/sleeves & the fan) hardly used it when it broke a rod a few weeks ago, the bolt was hand tight when I took it apart, bought a new piston/rod/sleeve(comes as a package) & made sure I torqued it down to specs, well that bolt was loose again when I took it apart!!!!!!!!!!!
Fate would have it, a friend is unhappy with his ingersol rand he bought a year or so ago, can't keep up with his air tools, single stage 220 unit, tall tank, maybe a 60 or 70, so for 200 I'm gonna get a fairly new over $500 unit, should be fine for spraying, I prefer the electric tools anyway, much guieter for me & the neighbors!  It would be almost that much in parts & everything inside is scored & scratched now, so I don't know if it would ever be right again. Rich.

Correction it was 6hp, but history anyway! Rich.

That's a nice air compressor, I'm in the market too. My oilless Craftsman finally bit the dust too, I've been using it for several years. I'm going to try and get one like yours if I can find one reasonable. Let us know how it works. I don't know how I'd act if I had more than a couple scfm.

I have to look at the data tag, I don't know what its rated for, I do know it won't keep up with bigger air tools(thats why I got it cheap) it's only a single stage, if your gonna invest, go two stage I don't think there that much more???

Thanks Rich, I happened to ask someone today if they knew where I could pick up a good used commercial grade air compressor and low and behold, I found an Ingersoll Rand 120 gallon, vertical, 2 stage, 220 volt, 175 psi that a guy is going to sell because he lost his shop. It doesn't have too many hours and I can pick it up for 500.00. I'm gonna go look at it tomorrow, sounds like a pretty good deal. Hope it's as good as it sounds. He said it would keep up with anything I want to use it for, even sandblasting. I happen to know the guy and he works for the same company I work for so I believe he's being straight with me. You got a steal on yours for 200 even for a single stage. Ingersoll Rand is suppose to be a good brand.
