soaked the rest of the wiring in hot soapy water for a while to get the grime off, gonna have to retape most of it, but most of the wires look pretty good.
But again this is Rusty Cuda, so something new & terrible must be found, well I found it, this connector was all taped up, hmmmm wonder why ::)  the wire off tothe left is the bypass, looks like the main line to the alternator, seems I'll be improvising again!  :naughty: Rich.

If that's the harness that connects close to the carb & runs out to the alt. mine did the same thing 30 years ago. The earlier models or at least the A-bodies had no connector there, just straight wires. Guess you know what to do. I have some pieces of an a-body harness if you need anything drop me a line

Ok, so all did not go perfectly, when I opened the plastic I wrapped the tranny in a puddle of water drained out, ruined that nice paint job i gave it, so we cleaned it off sun dried it & in between runs to the garage for tools & parts I gave it another quick shot a paint, not as perty as before, but decent!
Luckily when we opened it up to change the pan, filter & gasket there were no signs of water up in the "workings" WHEW!!!!

Been looking for 3 days, never did find the trans to motor bolts, but scrounged up enough to hold it till I locate or replace them, another rusty vrs murphy story kept the drive shaft from being installed(another day for those chuckles) but we moved on to the front end & put the ratty old rotors & wheel on, a few more small parts( on the way) & i can mount the tortion bars & steering colum & she'll officialy be a roller again, oh my!

While putting on the new oil pan gasket we took a gander at the bottom end :naughty:
Looks clean to me, the bros who have seen a bunch more internals than I seem to think she's low milage which was how the drive train was advertized!
checked the torque specs while it was open & they were all right on!

I wish I could say soon, but I still need a ton a stuff, last bits (grommets) are comming with the other parts for the gas tank, but I need to rebuild the carb, get a mini starter,an alternator, buy & run the fuel lines & do something with that burnt harness(the bros think they might have one) if so that will help a ton,I need every hose & belt maybe a radiator, plum(he he) from the trans line to the external cooler that was there, ahhh a ton of stuff,  I'm kinda hoping next spring if all goes well, next fall will probably be more of a realistic estimate??? Got some more stuff painted & started the task of rebagging & marking the hundreds of remaining parts/hardware, try & get more organized so the bolt fiasco don't happen again :clueless:
that should keep me plenty busy till the tortion seals/clips & the gas take parts arrive, then I can get those in, lining up of the body panels was put off(again) till the car is on it's wheels!

It's great to see you keep a great attitude, even though at times it seems things did not go "too smooth" for you to put it lightly I'm sure  :swear: :pullinghair: :banghead:
You've inspired many  myself included

I started this (& still update there) at scatpack in 2000 I think, but I hosted a lot of those pics so there gone & never kept a running post so it's scattered all over the place, in late 03 the grand poo bah over at nuts gave me a sticky , so that has survived, grab a case a beer(or your favorite beverage) & enjoy the trials & tribulations of the RUSTY one!  :icon16: Rich.

Some more goodies arrived today, so after I cut up one of the little guys inner tubes  :naughty: (got the top pad for the tank but nothing to isolate the straps) I can hang the gas tank & put in the tortion bars, I may need some help for the steering column, but i'll get it ready!  ;D

The shop I take my other vechicals too let me scroung through their bolts, so the trans has the proper bolts on now, thats outta the way.I've been messing with more small stuff in the shop, cleaned up my defroster duct & it seems it was rubbing a "tad" , on side was worn almost all the way off, trying to build it out of black silicone, it's plyable enough just don't know if it will stick good enough, probably would have been fine without doing anything, but I had to mess with it :bricks1: Rich.
