Thanks 74, it's startin to look like a car again, temps around 50's here(well then, getting colder now)
The other car is a 74 Cuda, non matching 360 motor, option wise much more like my original car, still missing the rally dash, light package, rear defogger & trim package, maybe the 3rd will be right on, if I live that long! :22yikes: but it's B5blue, with blue interior, way too much blue for me, I'll stick with the B5 outside & pepper the interior, the seats are pretty good so they will stay blue, but the dash console & selected other items will go black, it's even got a/c for the ole man to cruise in the hot weather(if I can ever get it working!)
It kinda came my way odly & was so cheap I just couldn't pass it up, cars is from texas, needs motor rebuilt, but a lot less sheetmetal than the 73 clone needed,if I ever get the first one done,I should have learned enough not to mess the 74 up too bad!  :naughty: Rich.

Hey Rich.  If you want to hear some strange engine sounds, go to my site under

http://big-dog.us/challenger/videos.html

I had the timing off a lot and probably a couple of wires crossed.  Engine 2 sounds the best but it still will not accelerate smoothly.  Carb problem i am sure.    Good luck.  I will check back on yours soon.  David

Got her fired up after work today & the noise is gone, just the sweet sound of partially open headers, so at least i can run it now & then over the winter to keep it fresh, took me about 6 hours sunday to get the tranny back far enough to tighten the loose plate to motor bolts & get everything back together, still can't remember exactly when or why I loosened em, must have been when I was cleaning up the motor, mistakes like that could cost me big time, glad the damage is minimal.
Now I can at least check the timing, maybe play with the carb a little, can't be too far off, fires right up, & sounds pretty smooth as you bring the revs up, definatly need plug wires, got me a few "jingles" out of those. all in all pretty happy thats over with , can get back to the rebuild now!
Gonna try & get a sound bite up if I can figger out how(a friend is gonna record it for me) Later, Rich.

Messed with some little things today, went to pick up the header flange gasket & it wasn't in yet, but ordered the plug wires, a spade remover tool so I can change out the bad connector I have on the harness & am getting a price on the entire brake system to see when I can buy.The guy will also press on bearings if I buy the complete set from him, says around 150, bearings seals & the press job, sounds good to me, what yas think.
Anyway i put the one flange gasket i had on & just bolted the other one tight, dang, do I really need a gasket, pretty quiet now!
fixed the oil leak at the sender, checked the rad, she slowly looses the pressure, but no leaks showed up, so I filled the antifreeze & put 15 lbs on it again, slowly drops, but again no leaks show, so I ran the motor , before on revs you could see it pull through the radiator, almost dead center, now nothing??????????????
Now I can actually listen to the motor, still sounds smooth.
Messed with the timing & got the wires seperated for now, no specs in the manuel, just says look at emmissions sticker on the car, don't think I have one??????? anyway I left it at top dead center, messed a little each way & didn't seem to make much difference, forgot to take off the vac hose, will do it that way next time, is there a basic starting point I should work from?
ran her out of gas, refilled another 5 gals & last i made a little longer stud for the air cleaner, the one he had grabbed about 2 threads on each end! nothin great, but some little things taken care of, Rich.
Oh yea, I tightened the alt belt, thanks Gio!(well & Greg)

Seems like I have heard that sound somewhere before.  Yours will accelerate smoothly. Mine won't.  Does anyone know what CFM Carb came on the 440 originaly.??  I have a 750 now but I think it is dumping too much gas in and overloading.  Still have some timing work to do I'm sure.  Sounds good though.  Keep on  :working: :working: :working: :woo: :woo:

Took it easy today, just started her up & checked for leaks, still got some oil running down the bell housing, rear seal on tranny seems to be holding(ran it in drive yesterday, but the yoke is pitted so thats on a wing & prayer. the antifreeze leak is baffeling me, still full, last time I had it full there was a puddle under the rad the next day, now it's holding??
moved the battery over to the 74, been three weeks since I ran that, ran it out of gas too, another trip to sunoco & fired that up, sounds worse that ever, like it's running on 7 now, but that needs a rebuild so I'm just trying to keep it fresh.
No great pics tp post, so just some small updates to the slightly more complete eng bay, still haven't located brackets for the hoses & wires yet, so there all longer till I can bracket em up & cut to size. Rich.
