Had a little car time yesterday, cleaned her up after the storm, put in the glove box & tightened up my tach. When i first started her up didn't catch hi idle & she ran a bit rough, put it on by hand for 5 mins & then kicked it down & she ran nice, drove around for about 1/2 hour locally without incident, got a NICE 'Cuda from a guy in my gas station driving a NICE fire bird 400 vert(68 or 9) . Think one of my squeeks might be my hood latch, but didn't dig in too far on that. threw in my repop owners manuel & wrapped her up for the night!
I drove around in 2nd on all the small streets to avoid the clunking shifts, just poped her into third on the 40mph roads, much less annoying that way!

Squeek hunt turns into nightmare!thought I had it isolated to the heater box, well think again! :screwy:
Well I have proved once again I am an idiot, about as dumb as it gets, take a simple little fix it up & turn it into an all day desaster fest! after breaking that corner of the heater box decided to take it out to verify the squeek & see if a repair can be made to that mounting hook area. Ok that didn't go to bad, but the test drive sucked!........................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .............
SQUEEK still there, removed the kick panel & tightened everything I could get to, STILL there!
So I Crawl under & start shaking stuff, nothing, kick the header flange & there she is, major squeek! thinking it's the flange I roll it up on ramps & get under to tighten the bolts, kick it to see where & no friggen squeek, crap whats different, tightened the bolts anyway & rolled it back down, kick it again & squeeks like a bandit
K time for a break, lots of head scratchin, bout a half a pack a buts & a swift kick in the rear & it hits me emergency break was on when up on the ramps!
So Now I revert back to bumb ass land & start bending the retainer hook thats rubbing on the cross over exhaust pipeNo matter what I do it just drops when you put tension on & rubs on the pipe!
So something kick started my brain(or whats left of it) again & I remember someone telling me the hook goes in from the top not the bottom of the trans mount(now that was a long time ago so I forgive myself for that one) But & it's a big but, just a week or 2 ago when the guy who fixed up my steeriing told me it was hitting there(& a few other places too) told me I said oh yea I was supposed to move that hook to the top, now this is just too much to bear
So I unbend the hook & put it in from the top & take the dreaded test drive ............................................................................ could this be, no more squeek So I've about had all I can take for one day so I start packin up tools & go to lock up the car & he drivers door window hits the moulding on top, all out of wack, So now I know where that bolt I found on the drivers floor goes, should be as simple as putting one bolt back & resetting that bracket, not with the Rusty one, so now the door has to come apart, messed with it for 2 hours & can NOT get it to line up right, :bricks1: tapped the gap & covered it up fot the night, gonna need some help on this, took forever the first time(with help) So half the friggen interior is apart, heater box is broken, whipers won't park , I think I should just look at the pretty pictures & stay the f..k away from the car! :hyper:
Tonight was gonna be it's debut at a local cruise in right in my area (like 5 mins from the house) ain't happenen now! Rich  :'(
damages............

Rich your world sounds a lot like mine, I call it the factor of 3. Do everything 3X to get it right, take 3X more time to accomplish and of course costs 3X what I thought.

Ok bit the bullet & went out there today, got the jb weld on the heater box & will drill it out hopefully tommorrow & see if it's thick enough.
Proceded to mess with the window couple more hours wasted, it's a little closer but still way off, the in & out adjustment is burried all the way & the top of the window still hangs out, read the book at least twice, tweeked a few of the other adjustments, think thats what got me a little closer, noticed my rear up stop was barely touching the bracket, if you roll up hard it would pop past it, bent it out a little now it hits a little better but I think it's too high(not stopping soon enough & the window is twisting(up/down/front to back) wondering if something in the crank mechinism could be off or loose to cause it to move too & fro?
In need of an experts assistance here ,Rich.

I'm still around, just have not worked on the cars for a few years now a lot has happened over the last few years, not much of it good, the crash put a real damper on the finances, "Cudas been sittin with comp only insurance for bout 3 years now, having issues with my back yard paint, was gonna sell it this summer to finance the 74 but I have to deal with the por15 issues & get it lookin sharp again before I even attempt a sale(well if I want to get back some of the investment)
Lost my Dad, my brother in law & mother in law in the last 2 or so years, needless to say the times leading up to the losses were trying, most weekends spent helping when we could, visiting hospitals, nursing homes well I'm sure some of you have been through those times , just say it was a trial.
Moms hangin in there but has a bad right shoulder & can't do much & is in pain all the time, still lives at the old house & won't come here, so we are over there almost every weekend, sat if I'm not workin & sun if I was, to do what we can to help.
Work is actually startin to pick up, but don't know how long it will last with all the wonderful stuff our government is up to, wondering if I'll ever have the heart (don't know if that's the right word, just haven't been feeling much like anything)  to really do another car.
Spent the winter messin with Dad's HO train collection, he had a pretty major collection, so it's a no cost hobby that I can at least keep busy with something I like till things get better.
So now are ya sorry you asked! :naughty:
Anyway I do lurk from time to time to see what you guys are up to. Maybe some day I'll start another 10 year epic on the 74 build, till then, happy motoring!  Rich.

Oh yea, did get those issues fixed, glass is almost perfect & the squeak was the emergency brake cable hook rubbing on the exhaust ! ;)
