The backup hood is in the tank, well kinda, a few minor(yea right) glitches in my plan, bought 10 gals, put in the first 5 & not even 1/4"in the tank, not gonna buy 30 gals more of this liquid gold!
My center seam leaked a little, so I will try the circulating method, tilted the tank, made some holes in the bottom of a condensate pump I had laying around & got some 3/8ths tubing & put a bunch a holes in it, eeeekkk the pump won't fit in the tank(made it close to the hood size to try & keep the liquid as little as possible) so I turned the hood the other way, hangs over the top a bit, but the pump fits next to it.
Gonna take a long time, can't keep much of it wet, will have to keep moving the tubing & the hood, hopefuly in a week or 2 all the rust will be gone!  Rich.

On the brighter side(I hope) I popped a valve cover & it looks pretty clean in there, a little rust on a couple a rockers, other than that it looks good to my untrained eye??? Rich.

K, I'm a little dissapointed in the results, not so much the product, it does work, but my rocket science "system" left much to be desired, if I spent another 2 or 300 on product I think the hood would be rust free(could have been fully submersed), but for that price I could have sent it out for a dip & ecoat!
I think I just had too much area to do with the 10 gals I bought!  But the areas where it flowed over early in my test worked well, last day or 2 I don't think it was doing much, maybe all used up, I've got a few small parts in the 5 gals that are left to see if it has any life left? Rich.

The skin wasn't too bad  & I got the pinch seam early in the tank, so thats pretty clean, gotta work the edges a bit, but it's almost ready for rust proofing. used mostly the eastwood 7" cleaning disc's on the flat areas! This is the underside.

Had a little more energy left so i started on the outside, got about half done, still thinking over how to deal with the pits around the scoops, lead or epoxy putty, don't wanna try & weld there, not skilled enough & I think i'll really mess it up???
I'll post up the "little" parts rust test in a day or 2(well if it works!) Rich.

Got the pinholes around the scoop leaded, hard to see (a little lighter where the lead is) I guess the absence of extra holes is the key!

Got the rest of the skin stripped, worked the dents up front a bit more & por 15'd the underside of the skin! Dropped the frame off to be media blasted, should be home for the weekend, guess I'll be sloppin around in por 15 a bit more on the weekend! Rich.

Finally did something the easy way(paid someone else to do it!)  Got the hood frame back from the sanblasters today, pretty cool, all clean & only 2 pin holes came thru, pitting not too bad! Got one side done today, second coat is drying as we speak, will por15 the other side tomorrow & hopefully get it back together over the weekend. then I get the pleasure of blockin a hood  AGAIN!!!!  Rich.

Started welding the hood back together yesterday, but went outside for a break after one side was done & it was way too nice to waste it in the garage. So i went out back & finished cleaning the tranny, & got the eng done to, put on a coat of por15 & packed up for the night!
Today I got a coat of paint on the eng(ordered the alum blast from eastwood for the tranny last night) still needs a second coat but looks better than the black paint & rust it was!
A bit of imagination is still needed! Picture new valve covers & a stripped & painted blue oil pan! Rich.

Don't need an imagination to see how nice that's coming along, looking sweet! Thanks for posting all of these pictures! Gives me a lot more confidence to go try some of this myself on my own project.

Hey plum, this ones for you, with a special thanks!
Didn't get to the backing plates, those should be easy, but you will appreciate this, you remember what they looked like, this is after 2 days, yep 2 days in the tumbler! Not too shabby! Rich.
