Hey Rich, glad to see you back! Funny thing, you took the pictures of those backing plates I sent you right on my  birthday, little coincidence?  :dunno:  That's gotta be ESP or a conspiracy! LOL  :roflsmiley:

Hope you can get back to working on that Cuda soon, hope all is well by now.

Had a few free hours sat afternoon & actually felt like doing something! So i got the keys to the 74, still not firing right up, but did get it running to charge up the battery, untarped the 73 & figgered I'd just drill out the stripped nut to retap on the header pannel, when digging out the stuff the splash shields I cleaned up months ago caught my eye, hmmmmm might as well paint those too, washed em off & got those painted, finished off the retap & Hmmmmmm hit me again, gotta pull the fenders to get the shields on,header is off already sooooo off come the fenders, grabbed a not quite dry shield & laid it in place, Hmmmmmmm again, 4 holes in shield & only the bottom nut & one hole on the metal, look at the other side & only the bolt hole, amazing how those holes blended in with the rust, so out came the punch & drill again & put some of my own holes in the car!
Anyway slightly smuged shields are on, had a nice "car" afternoon & retarped her till the next chance I get to "play" in the yard! (might be a while busy season for me)  ;)

Work & Family issues are easing off a bit so I figgered I needed some work on the car to get the right balance of stress back into my life, ordered my dash cover & a bolt kit for the rear valence (mine had metric stuff & that just won't do!)last week & a neutral switch for the tranny yesterday. Pad is here & is about as crappy & ill fitting as everyone has noted, so I decided to strip off most of the old vinal in hopes of a better fit near the defroster vents, still some major foam reduction in the rear to accomplish that, but hopefully a little better fit! :dunno:

Actually took it down to an apolstry shop to see if there's any alternative short of a repro pad, no luck there, he uses the same crappy covers!
The other issues are the cracks(actual voids) in the foam & it lifted from the metal in a few spots, I figger I gotta reglue those, take down any hi spots & possibly fill the voids?
suggestions on what type of glue & foam to use would be appreciated!  :worshippy
Problem areas!

I redid the dash for my `69 Barracuda which is a lot less complicated than an e-body dash as mine is fairly flat and straight except for the ends.Use spray trim adhesive for gluing down any lifted areas. For missing areas I used spray foam, the type you get at the hardware store for filling cracks, sprayed it on and ground it down.It may take a couple applications to fill all the voids but it works good and seems to be holding up fine.I bought some vinyl from an upolstory shop and glued it down,I had to slice the ends underneath the corners but it came out good enough for what I wanted. You are better off using the cap as there are just too many curves on the `cuda pad.

not much on the car, waiting on some adhesive for the pad, did clean up out back, got rid of the rusted out spare hood , the old drivers door & a cap for my old pick up that I couldn't give away, also junked my homemade dip tank(failed hood derusting attempt) so it looks a little less like a junk yard back there.
leaf springs were shipped today, so as soon as I get some more free time I may try & bolt in the rear end, I think I have all the main ingrediants, new schackles, front hangers, & u bolts are here & ready, may need to find a front spring bolt, chewed it up a bit removing it & not sure if I have that die, anyway, hopefully some foward progress soon!  :woo: Rich.

Hey Rich, glad to see you back in the garage making progress again. There use to be a thread about installing the dash cap, there was a link for an article from one of the Mopar magazines showing exactly how they installed theirs. I looked but couldn't find it again. Good luck on the install, be sure to show us how it turns out.
