Well the am inspection showed no mirical layout of the clear on my drips & runs & a ton a chit on the top surfaces, a few bugs also, gonna sand out the big uns & try another coat with the intake fan in a new location, the body lines seem to have survived my repeated attempts to mess them up & she does look good from 10 ft away  :dunno: Rich.

Had a short day today, sanded out some of the crap & shot the roof , trunk lid,top of the quarters & rear valence. Just the exhaust fan running,a lot less dirt, but i ran the rear valence which was nice on the first coat, this clear is tough to work with, took the ends off the tent cleaned up the mess & headed out to the little guys baseball game! Whew I'm tired!  Rich.
A little more light with the temporary ends off the tent.

From here this section looks done, but I missed a small spot around the black on my tape line(primer showing) & the whole bottom edge of the trunk lid overhang! , but there is hope that with a ton a sanding & another gal of clear it will be a five footer, woo hoo!  Rich.

Little by little I sanded out the dirt & bugs this week & set the tent back up today, shot some touch ups & another coat of clear, used a faster harderner ,helped a bit, a little less dirt but I made a lot more runs & drips. still found two more spots that need a shot a paint, hope to shoot those & the last 2 coats a clear tomorrow, then its sand till I drop!  :faint: Rich

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spent the mourning sanding out more dirt & buggers, now I'm wondering if I had too :dunno: shot the last few color touch up & around 2:30 started the 3rd coat a clear, finished cleaning up around 4,grabbed a bite to eat & went back out at 4:30, lookin at all the dirt :'( (not as bad but still quite a bit) & the runs I opted to put on the 4th coat right over it all rather than wait till tomorrow & sand the whole friggen car again & see what I was left with, only worry was that sanding out the previous coats dirt I might hit paint & have more color touch ups. :-\
Low & behold the gods of cleardom must have felt sorry for me & were finally ready to give me a break for all my hard work. :bananasmi
She laid out really nice(maybe I'm actually learning after the 44th time) & got very little dirt in it, covered the last coats dirt & only added 2 or 3 runs to the collection.
There's hope that this will sand & buff out & I'll have my 10 footer! :faint:
That last coat saved me from a week of depression about this friggen paint job, after 2 more 12 hour days I think it's finnally over & I can move back to the rebuilding! break time! Rich.

Well I did a test today took one bad drip area on the quarter & sanded the area, then buffed, then sanded again, then buffed, on & on, I'll be sanding & buffing this car for years, spent 4 hours on a 3' section on the top of the quarter, the peel comes out pretty easy, the runs & puddles are gonna take forever. just above the quarter you can see some of the worst peel area & the puddles laying on the top edge!
I wanna go back to welding in metal!!!!!!!!!!! :faint: Rich.

Got in about 6 hours yesterday, looks like a rainout today, might putz with something in the garage?
Been sanding out all the really bad drips since I hit paint on the quarter, gotta see where I'm at, Roof is pretty good, a few more slight runs & a little peel showed up when I buffed it out, gonna go around the whole car & get it all sanded & bufed out before I go back & work any real noticable areas, if it's real bad I may jus leave it for now & get it roadworthy & worry bout the touch ups later :dunno:
I've got about two layers of skin left on my fingers, so maybe a break is in order! ::)
Kinda running the gauntlet of happy & sad, she does look good from 10'away, but I think it can be nicer up close with a ton more work. :faint:

Well in spots it is! :naughty:
Thats the beauty of pictures they don't show most of the defects, had to shoot the "hit paint" spot 3 times for it to show up in the pic.
My friend keeps telling me, hey it's your first car, first paint job, thats not too shabby!
Considering it's about the third time I painted it I should be doing better!
I guess all in all I'm a lot closer this time, depending on the final (buffed out) results I may just leave it for a while & enjoy the darn thing before I get frustrated again trying to touch it up. :burnout: Rich.

I agree Rich, assemble it the rest of the way, sand and polish out what you can over the winter and enjoy that beauty come springtime!!!!!

K, got about 40 hours of sanding & buffing in,some defects removed & showed up some more defects, the shinier I get it the more crap shows, some sanding scratches, hit paint under another drip, couple of spots the metalic dots show thru(again under drip areas) & a lot of shallow runs all around the car. Gonna try & get the 3rd buff done over the weekend(glaze) & put the wheels from the 74 on it, blead the breaks yesterday, picked up the power steering hoses today, so hopefully mon or tuesday it will be a running & moveable 10footer!
Kinda excited & dissapointed at the same time, comming to the realization that I just have to settle for now because I may go to fix the defects & create more problems :dunno: Rich.
Will post up the result pics when I get her out in the sun shine!
