More bubbling up, funny thing is the corner I wrote on is where I did the touch ups, came out nice, the other corner was ok after the first coat, musta layed the second coat too thick, 2 more spots boiled over big time!
this lid is just not cooperating, this will be the 5th time back to prime! :banghead: Rich.

Hey Rusty I'm not a painter, but could you check a local shop about renting thier booth by the hour?Just an idea to save you a little time, which equals money, but don't give up fella. Now you know why most of our projects sit so long, but you have taken more steps forward than most of ever will. :)

Give up is not something I'm used to, I have this "little" stubborne streak :banghead:, at worst I'll rebuild her & if the body work/paint looks that bad, I'll shoot it in prime & still love it!  ;)
I've learned a ton, but still just an amature, if I survive the rebuild, the next one should go a little smoother! (I hope) ::)

Hey Rich, you truly inspire the rest of us with your hard work and determination. You've given me many ideas and watching some of your body work you have taught more than just yourself. Thanks for the help!!
Still can't wait to see it running even if you decide to start over and have primer on it!

Hey Plum! been called a lot of things, inspiring isn't usually on the list!  ::)
I hope it doesn't come to that! (primer)
I can see now why there's so many cars out there that never get done, i am lucky I have gotten to a point where my work hours have decreaesed dramaticly , to do this at night & on a few free weekends, I'd probably still be takin it apart.
There are some weeks where I work on the car more than my business, (some of that time I really shouldn't be) :nono:
At this point I will just put it back together(that will be interesting to say the least)  :dontknow: Never did a jigsaw puzzle this big before!
Drive it around, have a little fun to reward myself for a couple a thousand hours of work, then if I'm close on the body work, do the touch ups & attack the painting issues again!  Rich.

Still a lot of adjusting to do, I couldn't even get the back 2 bolts on the bottom hinges in, but theres a bigger issue, which I realized when I hung it on the other car, I thought at first my door(that I bought) was pushed in, it turned ou to be the fender brace & patch I put on is well rounded  where it should be flat!  :ack:
Looks like 2x4 & sledge time  :fire:
looks pretty in the pics though! ;D Rich.

Well it does make me want to keep it painted, but the pics don't show the defects, some easy fixes, drips(of which i find more every time I look around) & light areas, those a little sandin & the next coat a clear will cure, but the break throughs & chips will open up the bubling can a worms again, so i'm far from outta the woods, but will worry about it later, i'm sure i will add more spots to be touched up before it's back together!
Now I'll  concentrtate on getting it driveable, one problem at a time! Rich.

I can honestly say that if you had your car next to some over-restored trailer queen and had a full book of pictures to show off your restoration I would pay more attention to your car than the next.
The stuff you've done with your car is definitely an inspiration to others who are a bit farther behind. For this I salute you!  :patriot:

:-[ Well maybe this is my 15 mineuts a fame :-[  (or infamy The car that never should have been done!)
 :dontknow:
The boards I was on a bit longer than here, have a whole slew a jokes about my pics!  ::)
"the encyclopedia of cuda!"
"Volume 87 the engine"
"Cuda A to Z"
Well you get the idea, I have two over stuffed binders already with pics, a third with the paperwork & reciepts(that hurts to look at)$$$ :stomp: $$$ & haven't started the one on the painting, got a stack a pics to print & get in there!
One thing for sure, if I ever do a show & someone asks if there are pics, I will have the ability to turn the most ardent learner into a stone statue!
I will probably have to thin out the collection a bit, it may not fit in that "huge" cuda trunk! ;D Rich.

Rusty, looks good.  I show my body guy pics from this site alot, according to him, while car is apart all gets
primer, then all parts get edged in, ie. paint areas that are unreachable when car is together. then car is put
together, lined up,tightened up. now whole car is ready for paint and countless Hrs. of wet sanding.

this way no chips on body or bolts, hard to hang a door and not touch the fender.

I am open to enlightenment, please don't make me
Why are the only other cars on the road all in my rear view mirror?  Oh yeah cause I got a 440/6 pack

Thank you GOD for the "Go Fast Division"
