Installing Aluminum Rockers on a 340?
« on: January 06, 2010 - 09:09:12 AM »
I am getting ready to install the Aluminum Rockers and shafts on the heads of a 340.  I have never installed shaft rockers and want to make sure I don't do something I shouldn't.  Do I run the adjustment screws all the way out before I install them?  I know there is a sequence to adjusting them once they are installed.  Also, when I am adjusting them I think I read somewhere you turn the adjustment screw down by hand until it stops and then you turn it 1/2 turn more to load it, is this correct?  I am using hydraulic lifters(Edelbrock cam and lifter kit).

Thanks for any insight you can give!!

Jeff

lube the shafts with red  brg grease , I back the adjusters all the way out first , make sure you have pairs of left & right rockers together , you have to bring the engine around to TDC firing storke before setting the rockers for that cylinder , About 1/3 of a turn of preload is correct
