Black out the Beast hood -- opinions wanted.
« on: January 06, 2010 - 11:43:03 AM »
I have been tossing around the idea of painting the hood on the Beast with a black finish like the '68 factory Super Stockers came with.  It is now the same color green as the rest of the car. What are you folks opinions of going matte black on the entire hood and leaving the rest of the car as-is?   :clueless:    :1zhelp:

Ken, I love the Beast the way it is. With that dark of a green , I don't think the black will pop that much.  :2cents:

I think the hood matching the rest of the car on the beast looks great. I would see if someone can photoshop it for you to see before you paint the hood. Or maybe you could get another hood and paint it that way if you ever wanted to go back or didnt like it you dont have to worry about matching paint.

:iagree: My wife suggested that I do that....get a hood with scoops/whatever and paint THAT black and keep what I have .

Storage is alwaysan issue of course, plus spending extra $$ to buy the second hood.

I don`t think it would look any better with the hood blacked out either . did you get the header fixed ? did you find the problem?

Changed the header gaskets. Still have the noise. I'm thinking maybe a cracked header weld or something. I am going to get it on a lift while it is running and see what I can figger out....     :clueless:

I bought my car with dual scoop hood entirelly flat blacked (the car is Hemi Orange).  I'm actually going back with the hood painted same color of the car and repro vinyl blackout applyied on it.   The stock looking of the performace hood definitelly looks better for me.

I really like the 69 Cuda hoods with those small scoops... 2 black stripes coming from the scoops and stripes along the rockers. But I only like them with light bodycolors...  I wouldn`t blackout the entire hood. Your car looks great as is.  You could always try wrapping it in vinyl...

Ken, in my humble opinion... leave her alone. The Beast looks great the way she is!  :burnout:
