A66 Code

Anybody know what the A66 code means?  I found it on a 70 340 chally for sale.  I thought it was odd because the car had the standard dash but looked pretty original.  I have to claim a bit of ignorance because I am a B body owner.  I know that A56 was the rallye code for later years though.

The A66 code means it is a70 Challenger 340 Performance pack

I gotta admit a HUGE doh! for not remembering the A57 code.  It is stamped in plain GY8 on my buddies 72 charger rallye he is restoring. 

So let me get this straight...the 340 performance package was NOT an R/T?

Initially you had to order 15" wheels and a collapsible spare but that was soon rescinded. Here is the only thing I have that lists it as more than just the engine.

I've seen a lot of info about that "Scat Pack" decal.  I've never seen one actually installed.  Some people have said it goes on the window and that book kissalien has says rear quarter panel.  Does anyone have any pics of a car with the decal on it?  I have an A66 with original paint (I think) , but I don't see anywhere that the decal would have been.

The mention of the decal placement in the data book is a typo, the stickers went in the rear quarter windows.

Thanks for the clarification.  I was a little lost.  One more question......the A66 package comes with an R/T hood, but did it have the black "T" stripe on the hood?  Also, does it get the "340 4-barrel" emblem?  Mine is missing the hood.  The only striping I have is on the rear....black bumble bee

Not always.

No, it was a seperate option on the raisin bran hood cars.

The 340 embems did not come out until the '71 model year.
