Can anyone shed some light regarding the early non-SE Challengers whose door panels did not come with the woodgrain inserts?

It was a running change during the model year. Early non SE cars - no door woodgrain.

Great thread.

I've got a 70 318 Barracuda with the following fender tag:

EN1

V1X  G33  M21  R11  V5X  Y05
DY3  H4X9  000  some other numbers
F44  D31  BH23  G0B sequential number

I assume the Y05 means August 5th (the door tag on the car says August 1969 and the sequence number on the upper left hand corner of the build sheet is 1000284).

your build date is in the "some other #s "
Y05 is built for US
Y07 is built for Canada

That broadcast sheet sequence number is pretty low. I would love to see a scan if you can email me?

BH23G0B100052 has 100001 on it's broadcast sheet.

I've got a pdf of the broadcast sheet - I'll send it to you (what email address should I use)?

They must of made a Chally in 68 cause one of my customers  :drunk: swears he owned a 69 Challenger. It prolly had a 440 Hemi too.  I told him he should have kept it cause it would be worth a freaking fortune .  :misbehaving: :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley:

His door sticker likely said 1969 since the 1970 model year started then. Some folks just do not realize it is still a '70.

Dave, my email to you bounced back for some reason, so I'll copy & paste my reply here........

Hi Dave,
Very cool, I do not get to see many broadcast sheets this early. Your Scheduled Production Date is 815 for August 15, 1969. (1970 model year)

The SPD is the date they hoped to built the car, not necessarily the day the car was actually built.

I see that this sheet is the one from inside the rear seat back, have you checked inside the backs of the front seat yet? If not, you may find one or two more sheets. If you find any for other cars, can you please let me know about them also?

I am trying to figure out why some cars were built way out of VIN sequence at times so sheets found in the wrong cars really help. :-)

Thanks!

:roflsmiley: that gets me everytime.. I sure you hear it
all the time "My cousin had one of them Hemi T/As..."
:roflsmiley:

on another note, a close friend owns this car:
1970 Dodge Challenger JS 23VOB157694
it has a 10/13/69 build date. It's a 4speed A33 car as well.

I don't personall know if I've ever run across a car built in august.
That is REALLY cool.
