« on: January 14, 2010 - 01:03:41 PM »
I am pretty excited. Finally after years of waiting I have scraped enough coin to finish my cage. I am building a Drag Radial / 10.5 grudge car to go up against all of these Chevy's & mustangs.

Thanks for the double thumbs up Chryco. The purist's are going to cringe. Its a real 340 auto car that is going under the knife. Never had the original drivetrain in it anyway, so why not cut it up. Well, not really cut up too bad. Its going to be the most stock appearing race car out there except the cage which will be all hidin as much as possible. Steel rims & 12" wide dog dishes w/ 29.5 x 10.5W's or on the Welds its getting 315/65/15 M/T Drag Radials all once done.

If you are going to race it, race it safely and a cage is the way to go....     :2thumbs:    :burnout:

I had planned to put the Roll Cage in the Charger I have & race it in the Silver state type races
I have no issue with using these cars as well as retoring them , I have had my Charger well over 140 MPH & it has a top speed of well over 200 MPH .

There were no 340 R/T's in 1970.  Do you have the fender tag or a sheet?  I assume it says A66 on the tag if you have it.  Did your car have any R/T badging on it?  I heard some 340 cars accidentally came with them.

Will be very cool to see the finished product!  :grinyes:

Well, I guess I didn't mean never, at one time in 70' it did. Not since before the owner I bought it from anyway. But by the vin & fender tag its a 340 Car. I fixed my post for the purist' out there. I guess I didn't mean an R/T either, just used to typing it because of my Charger R/T.

There is a pretty good thread going on Moparts about the A66 cars in the restoration section.  There is still a lot to learn about those cars.  Some say their cars came with 340 callouts on the hood...others said they didn't get those.  A few have also reported some cars coming with 340 stickers on the hood.  I think there is an A66 registry...you should register that car if you already havn't.

Keep all of us updated on the progress of your build.

Interesting read. I started to read that once before when I saw it on Moparts too. I am not a #'s guys, so none of that ever really means all that much to me. I'll have to register it though. I drive, beat on & enjoy all of my cars no matter how rare or valuable they may or may not be. I bought this one to go fast since I already have a loaded to the max Charger R/T S.E. for cruising, car shows, family outings etc.
