new mods on my B5 2010 Challenger

Added the hood lift cylinders and bought an extra engine cover to do a throw back paint treatment so as to simulate an air cleaner lid.

Very cool!

Would be neat if you could put a retro air filter housing decal on the orange part or something.... like take out the 440 six barrel script and put in Hemi or something...  :dunno: or a Scat Pack decal...

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

i was thinkin of getting a custom "hemi" decal made up to look like the 70-71 without the "426". Also was thinkin of putting a air cleaner instruction decal on it. The other idea would be to paint the rest of the cover with the black crinkle paint like the 70-71 valve covers.

Looks good.  I think something like what is available for the trucks (see link) would be cool on the cars.

Interesting.  I think it would be better in blue fwiw.

But I ripped mine off the day I bought it.  Don't need it and just keeps more heat under the hood.

My idea is to make it recall the 70-71 cars, a blue lid would not look anything like what you'd see in a 70-71 Challenger, so the orange to make it look similar to the original oval air cleaner lids. With the cover off it just looks too busy with all the wiring and fuel rails IMO. I like the way the SRT's have the heads and fuel rails covered but the intake uncovered. It's an easy change if i decide on a different cover color, 2 hrs and a can of paint!

Thanks Jamie!

Got some parts in this week, so going to play this weekend. I picked up a SRT8 airbox setup, so I'm going to change over to that (eliminates the intake muffler and has a larger opening on the inlet side). I plan on sealing the air box to the header to keep out the hotter engine compartment air and use a K & N drop in. Got the caliper covers in also so I'll install them and also will install the stainless trim for the markers (another 70-71 styling touch)
