I just placed mine on a large vice plate with a short pipe about 3" long and a slightly larger diameter than the bushing outer ring - beat the pi$$ out of it with a 3lb hammer and out she comes , rust or no rust. Then i use the same pipe inside between the bushing holes and use the vice to press the new ones in. No problemo amigos. Same sort of process for u-joints as well. No expensive "use once in a lifetime junk" needed.

I bought a 12 ton press from harbor Freight......should be useful for other stuff in the future and it was cheap.  Although it does take up space in the garage....
