Project "Wrecking yard Challenger"
« on: January 23, 2010 - 01:44:05 PM »
Here is my 71' R/T  I found in a wrecking yard. It was slated to be crushed. I had to save it. So I paid the tow bill and a small storage fee and it's mine  :working: :woo: :woohoo: :2thumbs: Can't wait to start. Below is my old 74' that me and my Dad built when I was 14.

Slated to be crushed?  :scared:

Nice job of saving another one! Now I see why you sacrificed the bird.

Way to go saving it.   Hope I can find something for my son in the way of a barracuda to save.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Thanks, and the bird went to a very good home.  It's a shame what some yards will crush. A few years ago when scrap metal was big $$  a wrecker not far from me had about 90 % pre 1975 cars closed down would not sell anything then crushed everything including a 68 GTX, another 71 Challenger that had a mint 70 grill, a 69 coronet 500, a featherlite duster, makes me  :puke: :clueless:. A least I got the 440 from the GTX years ago.

That was Horne Lake Auto Wrecking wasn't it? I lived in Duncan and always tried to make it up there but never had the time. Then when I found out they closed down and crushed almost everything (a few guys managed to make away with a few cars), I was crushed myself. When I talked to the yard (when they were open)....they had THREE '69 Chargers. Which yard did you rescue the Challenger from? How recent?

Yes it was Horne lake, The Challenger came from a relatives private yard. They do not want me to post the name or location. No other mopars at all.  But I told them if they get any thing that they even think is a mopar to let me know so one of you guys can pick it up, that is if I pass it up  :stirpot: Just kidding , I need another project like I  need a hole in my head. This is my sixth Challenger, I hope I never sell it. I can not see a deal like this coming along again any time soon.
