I assume it origonally had a charcole canister in the engine compartment too correct?

So the early 72's had the 71 style tube in the trunk but a line went up to the charcole canister instead of venting into the framerail?
thats the way mine is,or was I removed the canister

I think all Rallye cars came with louvers unless they came with body side moulding.

I thought that too but this pic was just posted on Moparts.  I didn't think you could get the louvers AND the side mouldings on the same car.

:iagree:  I could be wrong about this because it was so long ago, but I thought my '73 Rallye had louvers, stripes, and the side molding like above. Pieces were missing and I didn't like the molding so i removed everything before painting it. This car had been repaired from previous accidents so maybe some of the body panels were not original. This is interesting, I'd like to see the fender tag also.

:clueless:  I dunno, you got me on this one.  :dunno:

You think it was different for '73 and '74 cars as the Rallye package because an option instead of a separate model?  I dunno....

Could you get the fender mount turn signals with the rally hood?  Or was that on a b-body that you couldn't get the fender mount turn signals with the bulge hood?  :clueless:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

The fender mounted turn signals were standardized starting in 73 accross the entire product line.  THey were attached with a phillips head screw.  Up until 72 they were smaller and used a stud/nut for attachment.(Dodge and Plymouth used different parts too)

I've heard that early cars(1970) were NOT available with them if you ordered the bulge hood because you couldn't see the passengers side light over the hood.  That obviously changed at some point because a lot of cars came with both.  The turn signals were part of the "light group"...you either got all of the "light group" components or none of them...they couldn't be ordered separatly.

Might not be a bad deal IF that's OE paint or it's not full of bondo..
Strange that it has the Rallye Cluster but no side strobe.
to add to your message... its not the oe paint and if you can find any bondo on the car i would give it to you. The car has already been looked over by three body guys.

If you look closely those are 70-71 style rallye gauges (reset knobs in the woodgrain not in the gauges). However that being said a friend of mine has a 72 cuda that she bought brand new that was an early build date car and had some 71 parts on it like 71 rallye gauges, so it may be possible for them to be original to the car, but not likely.
my 72 RAYLLE  is a JS  and no stripes or louvers,,and ,mine has the correct 72 style raylle dash but no seat belt warning light on the corner part of dash or any seatbelt warning,.  but does have an 8k tac,, but no body side  molding ,,i have window sticker and all documentation that came with car and i know the first owner who bought the car and it is original ,,i have fender tag and build sheets,, was sold in 71 an built in oct 71 and $8000  is somewhat high but not that far off
It is a JS car and sits with with no bondo and would not need a complete resto. We can argue about what is worth more or who has a 70-71 or who has a 72. I believe 8 is a fair price for what the car has and how hard it is to find a solid car not a rust bucket or looks like swiss cheese. Also, i have tons of extra interior pieces that are whole with no damage i.e; center consoles, steering wheels, instrument clusters, extra gauges, door panels, sail panels, kick panels lower heater control console, brand new headers(aftermarket) two brand new carbs, upholestry, tailights, the strobes that came with the car, sill plates, and misc stuff like new plugs and wires, lamps, gaskets.

:iagree: I think it should be well worth the price
