What paint for caliper adaptors, splash shields?

I am prepping my caliper adaptors and splash shields for the conversion and stopped short of painting them yet....

Will standard paint hold up (I was thinking of semi-gloss black rustoleum) or should I use high temp paint?

I wouldn't think that the adaptors and shields get very warm....?  Will the brake dust affect the paint?

Or should everything be painted with caliper paint?

Powder coating or chassis black epoxy paint would hold best , I think the backing plates were natural silver in color though

Well, my backing plates need something....they are less than pristine , one has some of the swiss cheese effect....I was contemplating fixing that, but not sure of how....so might just paint them 'something".

I have used spray bombs of appliance epoxy (black) on exterior trim items on my truck before and it held up...I used that to paint my steering link and the t-bars.....Then I read on the label that it is for "indoor only". Not sure why....it seems to hold up OK.

Is that chassis black available in spray bomb form?

Powdercoating not in the budget this time around.  I guess I could leave the adaptors and calipers plain, but.........

The dust sheilds are black.  The caliper bracket would have been left natural. 

I was checking out your LCA post...what are your plans with those?  Are you going to try and duplicate the factory cosmoline finish?  If you are wanting the cosmoline look check out this link.

Krylon battery protectant spray looks very close to cosmoline and it dries completly like paint...it doesn't stay tacky like real cosmoline.

Eastwoods has a Chassis black epoxy paint but it is not cheap

I bought some satin/flat black cal;iper paint and will try that and see how it works.

Use the cast iron or silver caliper paint. From the factory they were natural. Eastwood exhaust manifold paint works excellent too.

That car has held up very well. Here is what the completed car looks like underneath. Use this car as a reference to the right colors and finishes. That T/A had less than 30K mile all in crimate free So Cal. All finishes and marks were found and documented during dissasembly:

Yes...use either Seymours stainless steel or Eastwood Spray Gray(the lighter colored one) for the LCA's and the uppers.  THen spray the Krylon battery spray over the stainless steel paint.  It is transparent and gets darker with every coat.  Finally spray the entire piece with a matte clear.

The upper contol arms were left bare from the factory.

Also I believe the Seymour Stainless Steel paint is the exact same paint that Eastwood sells.  I think Eastwood puts their own label on it and sell it for 3 times the price.  The color is EXACTLY the same.  I found out the hard way.  I ordered two cans of the Eastwood paint because I had used it before with good results.  I then heard about the Seymour paint so I bought a couple cans to try.  I was expecting a slight color difference but they are the same.  Now I have four cans of the same color.

A "correct" undercarriage does look sweeeeeet.

Was thinking I could go that way for the LCA, but now that the UCAs are painted I dunno.

Plus, my LCAs will have the (very incorrect) reinforcing plates on them.....

Most cars did have semi gloss upper control arm. That 70 T/A was like that, so was my 71 Challenger R/T.
