71 Cuda "T" shift handle (Auto Trans) bolt on (replace) the 1970 style knob

Will a T handle from a 1971 Cuda bolt right onto a 1970 style ball/button shifter?

Id say no the T  shaff handale rod  is flat and the ball one is round .

The "T" handle may not fit, but the whole thing will change out. I put a 70 style ball shifter in one of my 71's that had the "T" handle.

no ,as the others have said it won't fit. One is round (1970) and the other is rectangular (71-74)
 I have a 70 Challenger  I have both styles of shifters. I chose to install the 71-74 style as I just liked it better with the aftermarket shifter I chose.

You can find an entire assembly to replace but I'm sure the chrome housing is going to be pitted.  You can buy all new components from BE&A.  They sell both styles.  All you would have to do is get the 71-74 black shifter plate with the square hole in it.  The replacement housings use small bolts to hold the halves together instead of the fatory rivets.

BE&A might also have the "shift gate" indicator insead of the "slap stick" one too if your car is equiped that way.
