Backspacing question
« on: January 28, 2010 - 10:12:51 PM »
Hello all,

I have a chance to pick up some Cragar 17x8, 5x4.5 rims with 235/45x17 tires on them at a pretty decent price for my 71 Cuda project.  The backspacing on the fronts is 4.5", and the rears are 3.5".  Will this staggered backspacing cause me any grief?

I run, in back,  17x8 with 4,3" backspace, and 245 / 45 - very close to fender.. ???

I don't think you'll ever get the 3,5" on in the back...

I think the rears (3.5") backspace will rub if you don't jack it up.  With my 15x8.5s, I ran a 4-7/8" backspacing. You better try them on before you buy them.

Thanks for the info, I don't have any rims to compare them to currently, so I believe I will pass and keep an eye out for another set.

Those 4.5" BS would have worked on the rear but putting the 3.5" BS on the fronts would have rubbed when you turned.
