Ok, I am trying to replace my power steering pump, problem is, mine doesnt look like the photos I see of the saginaw or federal.  so I need to know what I have, and if I can just replace it with a saginaw.  thanks for playing...

after looking at it, I think it might be a federal, but why is the filler tube so long?

I don't know for sure but it looks like a pump that would've been from a van. The long neck in a tight area would be why. What year.... no idea.

well, the motor is a 72.  can I just use a federal pump for a 73 challenger?

You could use the Federal. But the Saginaw is more correct design for the year car. Federals were last used in 71.

If there's a pick n pull near you, go there and see if there's any to get. Or try Craigslist, or here in parts wanted. They're a commonly used pump in many Mopars.

Oh and the cap that doesn't fit?
Maybe a TRW.

They didn't have an over hang edge but fit within the filler top.

:iagree:  I had a `81 van and I`m pretty sure it had a long neck like that .  no Idea what type it is though...

It depends on what it comes off of. Bouchillion performance has all the brackets if you run into problems. Call them if you run into line up issues.

I think I would inquire here if I were you in parts wanted and just get everything from someone.
