Selling a VIN tag without the matching car is also a felony.

You really need to get  the title / state issued VIN for the CA chassis and THEN sell.

You should destroy the VIN tag for the cut up car.

:22yikes: Hey man you got yourself into this mess...don't pass this onto some one else that is just plain nuts.  You can't just swap VIN's on a car, it is a serious offense.  The VIN of the donor car needs to stay on that car.

There is NO WAY I would buy ANY car without a valid title.  Some states will accept a BOS and will even offer a title off of that BOS, but you got 2 completely different cars and are basically advertising your donor car as a car that no longer exists.

There are several places on the car that has part of the VIN stamped on it...mainly to prevent what your trying to do actually.  I am willing to bet that alot of the guys on this board as well as other mopar boards are not gonna bite on this for the reasons stated above.  You should follow Alaskan T/A's advice and get this cleared up...it WILL help you with your sale as the body does look decent.   :2cents:

I appreciate the information. And I totally understand. I WILL work on getting a title. Both cars are clean and lawfully owned, nothing is stolen. DMV is closed today but I will go next week. If you are interested in the car, dont hesitate to contact me. This will get sorted out.

I went to the DMV to get the title sorted out. They told me that it would not be a problem but they can not issue a title until there is a complete physical car to inspect for things like functioning lights and what nots. The lady at the DMV did run both VINs and print receipts saying that they were clean and not on file for anything. She said depending on the inspector they may use the existing VIN or issue a new one. She gave me a bill of sale and statement of facts form and told me there would be nothing illegal about selling the car(s). So I am selling the project as a non numbers matching 1970 Challenger.
