Merry belated Christmas to me!
« on: February 03, 2010 - 10:43:34 PM »
I ordered these back in the middle of December and they turned out to be on back order, but they came today. I will be installing them in about 2 weeks when i go up to Redding.  :jumping:

Oh and they are Doug's D453 ceramic coated headers.

Keep us posted how they work out, if you would. I have been looking at these. I think that is what I am going to go with.

I plan on taking pictures detailing the install, because I know there is a lot of discussion about headers especially these in particular. I will be installing them the weekend of the 20th, so I should have pictures by late Sunday night, Monday the latest.

Nice headers.

Use really good header gaskets.

These are advertised as guaranteed not to leak. I haven't used them but they look like a good candidate.

Read their tutorial also.

I have had really good luck the past few years using standard gaskets coated on both sides with the Permatex Ultra Copper. It seals really well (really really well). The only downside is I have to be careful or I make a mess.

Thanks for the gasket recommendation though, they look nice.

I'd highly recommend that you use painters tape on those nice headers to keep from scratching them during install.  Maybe even a couple layers to protect them.  Trust me  :2cents:

And don't spray white lightening degreaser around the motor once they're installed. I stained my TTI's.  :crying:

Wally, were those ceramic coated TTi's?  Did you talk to TTi to see if they had any ideas? Sorry about the staining  :(

You know, I havent. they are ceramic. You wouldnt think spraying that in an ENGINE compartment would have those effects, but thats a good idea about looking into TTI's advice.
