April, your rear window is showing!
« on: September 17, 2004 - 02:06:07 AM »
April, Im not sure what it is called but the slotted looking thing on your rear window, What is involved in putting that on a car? Do I have to drill holes? or make any other modifications, I really like the look of your Cuda and was thinking of doing the same to mine! Also do you and anyone else think it would look good on my car? With rear go-wing and those funny looking things on the front 2 sides of the car. dont know what their called either.

Bingo!!! :D :P

If you don't already have either, holes have to be drilled to mount them...  ::)

some folks sell them on ebay now and then. Originals are pretty expensive. CHeck your state though i know they are illegal to have in PA. For whatever reason..

I have hear of some after market ones that do not require drilling. But i can't confirm that.

jleilich,
You are correct. My after-market louvers didn't need drilling.

If no drilling required, What was required?

Well,
There are 2 brackets on the top that slide under the trim. These pieces are hinged. There are also 2 brackets that slide under the trim on either side. These brackets are held in place by double-sided 3M tape. Believe it or not, it holds well.

I will take pics tomorrow of the louvers.  There is no drilling for the ones I have, they have the clips that are attached under the chrome rear window molding.  I don't know if there is double sided tape holing it on or not but I will take a look tomorrow and get close up pics.  It is pouring outside right now  :'(   They would look awesome on your car cause it is the same year as mine  LOL.  I say go for it.  Not sure where to get them though, they were on the car when I bought it.  Mine are not original, they are plastic and no, they don't rattle like some are known to do.
