Correct bolts for aft sway bar
« on: February 06, 2010 - 09:32:06 PM »
Anyone know what the proper bolts to mount the aft sway bar to the frame of the car?
I found out the hard way that it wasn't connected when i took a drive today had a big clunk bang bang, got it home then climbed under and seen it not connected was connected by the links going to the rear end only. Who ever had it before just fit the bar up on the frame and called it good.

they are self tapping bolts, they look like the bolts that hold your voltage regulator on the firewall. For location, the brackets only fit one way and you should have the dimples in the frame to know where to pre drill. Or at least mine were there.

I just ordered a bunch through my work that I think are correct. To the best of my knowledge they are: 5/16 x 18 x .70 thread cutting bolts (1/2 inch head). I found this info somewhere on the web, I'll look for it again in a bit. The ones I bought are: 5/16 x 18 x .75 thread cutting Type F (whatever that means). Hope to be putting my rear sway bar on sometime this summer.

Found the pic, maybe it's farmboy's and I found it one here. The ones I bought are zinc but don't have the "teeth".
